Video Transcript:
- So this is Maven, and she, you know, I refer to her as a she but I really don't know yet whether it's a boy or a girl, pretty much all baby birds, I just referred to as a she, but... Come here, love bug.
She has an amazing rescue story. She was actually born wild, and I've had her for about four weeks now. And I think she's probably, here, come here love bugs. I think she's probably like eight weeks old or so.
So she was rescued by a AAA mechanic. He was driving down a busy street, near Inner Bay here in Seattle. And he saw a bunch of crows attacking this bird. He had no idea that it was, you know, a fledgling pigeon. She couldn't even fly at the time that he got her, but to anyhow. So she got away from the crows, ran into the middle of the street. Two cars went over her and he's just freaking out.
So he's in his, you know, triple A mechanic's truck. He stops traffic, turns on the lights, and rescues her. What a sweet, sweet gentleman. And he's in the same Facebook group as a friend of mine. And so she put us together, the rest is history.
He brought her over. I of course, took her to the vet to make sure that she's all healthy and everything. Before she goes out into our aviary, I am pleasantly odd. I have now 13 pet pigeons. She's getting to the age where she does need to go out into the aviary, and spend more time because, she wants to fly around quite a bit. Don't you? Don't you? I know she's pretty cute.
But anyhow, I named her Maven, because I thought male or female Maven's a great name, but I thought that, she was an expert
survivor. Hence the name Maven.
