This video is so simple that it actually made me clean my laptop myself instead of going to some repair station. Before the cleaning i had 95-104 on CPU on turbo boost. 85-89 without turbo on CPU. After cleaning the fans (there was a lot of dust) and changing the thermal pad to honeywell 7950 ptm i have 65-72 degrees on my CPU in the same game! Thats crazy. GPU temperatures went down from 89 max to 76 max It was after 26 months from buying the new laptop. The difference was that i had smaller SSD drive that i didnt need to unscrew to remove the battery which was nice. Too bad in order to remove the touchpad you need to remove the motherboard - that design i dont like ( last screw is under the motherboard).

Cleaned out my Legion today following this video. Very easy to follow. It's not a very difficult laptop to open up and clean, even for a beginner, but knowing where all the components are before even opening it certainly gave me a lot more courage to do it, as it was quite intimidating to do it myself. Thanks for the video!

Thanks bro. I'm having to replace the LCD cable and you can't get to it without removing the heat sync. You're video really helped.

I bought it today for 200 euros without the display, so I have to replace it and clean it, thank God for this video

Thanks for the instructions on how to remove the cover. It helped a lot to open my model myself for some fan cleaning action.
After cleaning the fans the legion is about 5-10 *C cooler and way more silent 😊
But I dont go further than that since I am not a pro and afraid of serious damage 😂

You don't need to buy the USB m.2 connector to clone the drive since the laptop already has an extra SSD slot if you remove the HDD.

needed to replace a fan that's been faulty ever since I first received my computer from the manufacturer, this was helpful to refamiliarize myself with the internals of my machine before taking it apart again. just a comment, but it seems the fan replacement parts have been left out of your list of parts in the description.

Okay so opening this will be hard. I had to use a surgical steel object which is very precise to open up the cover. The cover is hard to pull up. It's like they made it so it's hard to open.
The components of the laptop are very tightly placed on the PCB. So there's a high chance you can short-circuit something if you do touch it with something made of iron. Opening the battery is the most difficult. It must be done before opening that ssd! So in order to open it you'd have to touch some other component w your finger by accident and pull with some force just like he did... It is a pain. Do not use anything made from iron or steel or anything for this. When you open the support of the hard disk make sure you notice the teeth with no opening in them. These need to be opened so the support can be opened too

Awesome video, nice and in-depth! Can't believe the state of that laptop though! The split on the back case made me shudder haha!

Thank you for the clear step-by-step illustration for disassembling the Lenova Legion 5 15lmh05h. My only complaint is that you did not illustrate removing the keyboard. I bought a new keyboard and would like to replace it myself. I'm sure keyboard replacement is very common but can't find any YouTube video illustrating the keyboard replacement. I'm going to attempt it myself but would be more comfortable watching it first.

14:16 Mine didn't come with such a big pad (the one on the topmost left corner that's right next to a small pad strip) but a little square instead. Do you recall which capacitors or mosfets that particular pad was covering?

11:09 If I just want to add 2.5 ssd, I don't have disconnect or unscrew anything, just slide in new ssd?

I dont really understand lenovo's cooling system being so superior among others. It looks the same as most high end and even lower end laptops. Only different you can initially see are those heat pipes extending to the side of the fan. Maybe their thermal pastes are also something.. i want to know stuffs
