BMW B38 VANOS Failure

This BMW B38 came in for diagnostic of rough running and ticking noise.. turns out the VANOS gear is missing some tooths. This is a caused by a broken tap internally in de VANOS gears. The broken tap is very common, causing VANOS codes and rough running. In this case the broken tap fourced out a big chunck of the outer gears of the VANOS which is less common. Engine did still run.
