That’s not entirely the point though. Lions eat meat because they are carnivores. Humans are omnivores so we eat meat and eat plants. Anyone who disagrees with either of those statements is just wrong on the facts.

Well some animals are designed to eat, like I have chickens and we have meat and laying birds. If the meat birds aren’t culled at a certain age they will get overweight and die a more slow and cruel death and could develop issues with their health aiding in that slow painful death. Now like the chickens that are mass produces isn’t okay either because they are pumped with lots of hormones that cause them to get excessively larger faster and stresses the bird out but free range is a different story. So it is unethical to give the animals a miserable life before being culled but giving them the best life you can before they pass is not unethical, it’s how their lives are lived that can make it unethical, within this context.

The argument is not for humans to behave like lions. The argument is a challenge to the idea that it’s objectively wrong to kill something that is sentient. In both cases, the gazelle is sentient. However, in one case, vegans determine that it’s wrong to kill something sentient, in the other case, vegans determine that it’s not wrong to kill something sentient. This means killing something sentient is subjectively determined to be right or wrong.
