I've been watching Uncle Stef's videos for several years now, and to his credit, he has been recommending the webstack in virtually every video since that time!

Thanks uncle Stef, as always! Watching your content or listening to your insights gives an enormous amount of optimism, confidence, and encouragement for the future, especially in the murky times like these. A while ago, I was reading some article in an e-book, and it was rightly said that, the world is a hostile place to live in, even though we humans are born here naturally. However, we encounter numerous incidents on a daily basis in our lives that puts us off and pessimizes all hopes for the future. Having people like yours really helps to focus on the rays of hope and light, so thanks a tonne!! Love you <3

I see a lot of younger inexperienced people trying to get into freelancing... The vast majority make nowhere near a decent full time permanant salary, or contract salary (full time but temporary eg. 3 months or 6 months working for a company, however contracts are very hard to get as a junior I think anyway).

There is a ton of work/hours to put in outside of dev work for freelancing. You are essentially also running your own business and having to deal with clients and income etc yourself. Most younger people don't have the experience and maturity to create and maintain all of this, particularly while they are still also learning their dev craft.

I'd suggest actually trying to get a full time position for at least a couple of years or so, and then perhaps trying freelancing... Unless you are sure you can handle dealing with your own business.

Love the article review on such a prominent topic, getting an experienced developer’s review of these types of statements gives so much more insight

I've been in tech since 1990 as a SQA Automation/Now Manager, I know how to code due to UX automation (Java, VB and JS/TS) but having a blocker on how to even approach freelancing or where to even begin...

What is the best career path for an automation developer? I like to automate stuff but I only use VBA currently.

Do I need college for Full Stack development? I would probably have to work for company first before becoming a freelancer.

You want job security? Learn COBOL. There are no new COBOL developers and all the old ones are dying. Every major bank, insurance company, utility company and government agency still uses COBOL. There is more COBOL code than all other languages put together. It's way too expensive to rewrite this code into some sexy new language.

I’ve mastered webdev minus JS though I know basic JS. I love php because I learn by doing & designing my own cms from scratch is fun for me. Ive avoided JS because the sites that use it take forever to load and it is an accessory not a necessity. But Python baffles me. I learned Python basics during a 12 wk bootcamp and aside from the mind numbing, fact that it uses indents instead of brackets, I cant fig out the purpose for it, yet it is high demand. What can you do with Python that you cant do with another language? If I knew what can be done with it (ie what fun projects I could build that I cant do already with php), then I would have motivation to learn it. The only way to retain what I learn is to build useful projects.😑

As someone that never studied IT which of the above is the easiest skill to learn? (newbie here)

I think freelancing is not really that viable, you either have the low end of the market who are using templates and the high-end market is going to hire in house. So where do freelancers really fit into the picture?
