Please note:
- I may actually be wrong about the hunter teaming up with my monstie and just mixing it up. If you must get a heart back, your monstie can handle a single smack so long as they are going to win the head-to-head.
- Sorry for the typo on the title of the vid (fixed)
- You should try this game (free demo!) it is AMAZING
- Normal Elder Lair should take like 27 turns or so. Makes sense this one is like 43.
- I didn't do any level grinding, just made my way through the lair!

I laugh every time he tries to switch out the monster but always presses the button to switch weapons. Even in post game I find myself doing the same thing lol

Few things from my strategy to fight Fatalis that I think can be optimized from Gaijin's guide:

It is much safer to NOT bring NPC in Fatalis fight so you can 100% win the HtH. It is a battle of attrition, as long as you win the HtH you won't lose a heart. Very important mechanic in this game is that if you win HtH, even if you are at 1 HP, you won't lose a heart.

Another mechanic when Fatalis is enraged (from my experience) is that he won't target the same person twice. So I intentionally didn't do double attack by using skills on my character and monstie and winning 2 HtHs. Gunlance is a very good weapon to fight Fatalis since you can spam shelling skill with 0 kinship charge.

In the final phase, you can ride your monstie, use speed attack to win HtH once, and survive while riding. So you can do the kinship skill on the 2nd riding turn and also do more damage with lv2 kinship skill.

Doesnt feel like four years since the last time we saw you tussle with this bad boy in Stories, it's also really cool to see a fully fleshed out guide this time around. I can't watch this yet as I just only got to Nue Ta but I am eager to watch this fully once I get to this beast cheers Gaijin!

I super appreciate the "notes" screenshot, I'm definitely gonna have those pulled up as a good overview/reference during the fight!

The Hunting Horn song Evasion Riff (available on the healing-type horns, I think you need to do a subquest to unlock it) is very useful to avoid Fatalis's untyped attack phases (Hellfire or Sky Force). Very strongly recommend it to save health and healing items for the late fight.

Thank you for this. I just completed fatalis with my daughter and we used this video to help us.

You didnt see that head to head at the beginning because Reverto was using an ancient potion, meaning there wouldn't be a head to head cause he wasnt attacking, that line only appears if there WILL be a head to head (except for the exception of someone doing a kinship move, obviously cancelling out the HTH but the line will still be there).

I beat the S. Elders Lair version yesterday. I did it with a level 75 team, but i mainly only used Stygian Zinogre and a water Palamute for the memes and for speed attacks. My tips are: 1 use Stygian Zinogre, 2 use a maxed Stygian Zingore armor, 3 use a mounting charm, and 4 use a Rapport XL talisman if you got one because those double attacks are amazing. Good Luck!

P.S. Tip #5 use Dragon element weapons. I used maxed Nergi weapons :)

When Fatalis hit Riverto without "targeting" him, its because riverto was healing, so no Clash! indicator on the field!

When it didn't show he was gonna HtH with Reverto it wasn't a bug. If a monster tries to HtH with someone using something that isn't an attack it will not show the line

So, I watched this out of curiosity because I have no plans to buy the game cause I don't have the time to enjoy it as much as I want to. But now it seems so cool that I really wanna play it despite having spoiled at least this video for myself.

21:08 Why Ancient Potion? It's wasted healing because you have Vital Essence to give a heart back, Ancient Potion heal like a Max Potion + Recover a heart like a Vital Essence and Reverto had full health.

Another decent character to bring along is the kid with the Mizu bow. He does kinda meh damage most of the time but he got his ultimate charged enough to cancel out Fatalis when needed and he will occasionally heal you and your monstie as well as remove status too.

That "bug" you said happened when fatalis did a speed attack on reverto but the targeting line didnt appear wasn't a bug. As far as i can tell when an npc does a typeless move like reverto's ancient potion and the monster is targeting them with a typed move like fatalis's speed attack, the targeting line won't appear. This will also happen if the npc is targeting a different monster.

TL;DR : the targeting line will only show on npc's with one monster and only if they go into a head-to-head with that monster.
Sorry if i come off as rude, just wanted to point that out so ya'll know a little bit better how the game works.
