I do this every year, and plant the slips in half barrel planters… I have gorgeous flowering vines all summer long, and just when fall starts and the vines die back, I dump the planters out, and get pounds of tubers to cure and eat!

I am 53 years old, when I was in high school I went to my grandmother's house which was downstairs of mine and saw one of these. I asked her about it and she said it was something people used to do when she was just a girl and she always thought it was cool. I really like the idea because it was such a beautiful Vine. Once they grow, you pick each plant off the sweet potato and plant it in your garden and you will get sweet potatoes, they are called sweet potato slips

You can also eat the leaves as a green leafy vegetable .

You can also leave the potato in a dark area with no soil or water and it wil help with sprouting and if you plant them they grow quite vigorously.

I have sweet potato vines They are the ones that greenhouses do for greenery. It was part of my mom's funeral flower arrangement I've had it for 2 years.

One if planted in big containers can give you sweet potatos I have 6 big black mineral tub growing enough sweet potatos for hubby and I to eat. This is very easy and they are forgiving if you water to much unlike regular potatos . Start in April and turn over onto a tarp to save soil and just dig thru dirt 😁 put plenty of holes in bottom of tubs for drainage . This is easy folks can do this even if in an apt

I just bought mine and then suddenly they began to grow their lovely purple sprouts and now I've placed them in water. I suppose it's because the weather is quite moist recently and they were somewhere dark

Always have one going. The more you trim it back the bushier it grows. My kids always loved doing it.

You can plant it with stem also. Cut the creeper into pieces and plant in soil you'll get sweet potatoes.
