Florida Gov. DeSantis signs bill targeting 'social media censorship'

Taking aim at Silicon Valley, Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed a measure to crack down on large social-media companies that block users from their platforms.

DeSantis, who made the issue one of his top priorities during this year’s legislative session, described Florida as a "trailblazer" and said the bill would protect free speech.

Someone should let this lawmaker know that free speech does not apply to PRIVATE COMPANIES. Any business has the right to refuse service to anyone. No shirt, no shoes, no service. No hate speech

I am amazed at the response of this bill. We have government regulating what private companies should do on their platform. Do we have any conservatives/libertarians still left in the Republican party? If we had a Democrat governor restricting who Fox news - a private news outlet - allows or disallows on their show, we would be up in arms about their private right. But we see this here and I don't see any principled people here.

Big tech uses a public platform called the internet to operate and has no right to censure anyone's speech as long as that speech is legal under the law. This makes them subject to being disconnected and it's executives indicted for civil rights violations. Folks demand that your politicians take action or go find another job. My opinion
