If you can find 5600 at $80 then go for it and paired with B450 or A520 for dirt cheap

Funny you say that. I have a strix b350 thats had the bios updated 13 times, and started with a ryzen 5 1600, and is currently running a ryzen 7 5700 x3d, and a 3080 10gb. Its also been upgraded from 8 to 32gb of ram. The original system was built in late summer of 2017.

I have a 3600 and it does everything i need it to (but i dont play big games) i would say its probably worth getting the 5600 if its within your price range, but as always make sure your not bottlenecking

Don't be afraid to buy on aliexpress. Just choose to buy from someone with a lot of sales. Aliexpress usually recommends at the top when u search the cpu. I got the 5600 and just built my first pc yesterday. Granted it was painful af😅. Some many things could go wrong or can be mismatched. Lesson I learned always check your components are compatible (every single one).

The b450m from asrock only had one three pin connector for argb. My gpu is hella big and i added fans at the bottom. So i couldn't stand the my bracket so the gpu doesn't sag. I improvised tho😅.
Anyway it's satisfying when u hit that power button and everything starts with no issues.

Currently I would recommend the 5000 Series if you run modern GPU's. My "Old" (Back when Ryzen 1. Gen came out) AM4 Setup is currently using a 5600X and an 7800 XT. And for my Games on 1440p it's a good balance. But if I would build a PC from scratch I would use AM5. Maybe if the current CPU lasts a long time, I maybe skip AM5 if AM6 maybe comes out in 3-5 years.

Depends

1) check if both the cpu's dont bottleneck the gpu ur buying. If both cpu dont then next step
2) check the price difference. If its negilable like 10-20 bucks then just go for 5600 if not then 3600

I got a 5600 and a b550 itx motherboard as a bundle from microcenter and I’ve had no problems running high-end graphics cards with no bottlenecking

This just got me thinking, my current build has a 5 5500 with an RX 7600, should I buy a 7 5800x3d right now (+ a new cooler since mine is the 5 5500 stock cooler)or should I save my money to switch over to AM5
