When she was buried, they had to put her in a special fiberglass coffin lined with lead so that the radiation wouldn't spread. She was buried in a cemetery in Goiania. Even after all the precautions, there was a riot with over 2, 000 people fearing that her dead body would poison the surrounding area. They even tried to block the road to the cemetery with stones and bricks. This is so sad :(

I'm a high schooler from Brazil and my chemistry teacher used to work in Goiânia, I think he told us the story of the accident about 10 times when he was teaching about radiations. It's quite emotive, that thing was big.
