But I (as an ex-owner of a GTI and owner of the current CTR) don't understand what's your problem with the "erveryday-usability" of the Type R?
It has more space, a much bigger boot (almost 500 litres), much more features as standard and with +R-mode deactivated with smoother damping setting it's sufficiently comfortable for normal roads.
It's like in most magazines which favour VW-cars: The competition-cars are always more fun, faster, more competent, more price-worthy... and in the end VW takes the "victory" for its "erveryday-usability"...
So, the consequence for car-companies would be to make their future HOT-hatches rather dull and boring than HOT and exciting.

since my funds are limited I choose the Honda Civic Type R as my day-to-day and also occasional track car. just for fun! and the precision of the Honda handling plus legendary reliability. I know I have a 2008 Civic Si that redlines to 8300 RPM every single day. 9 years later, nothing was worn other than consumables (break pads, petrol, oil and tires) no breakdown whatsoever and it drives like brand new. Basically I go twice a year for regular maintenance. that's it. that's all.

Proven dependability, reliability and redline performance every single day... too much fun!

Very good review test drive & thoughts! Thank you! I ordered the GTI Clubsport with DSG, DCC, Keyless Acess, Dynaudio 400W Surround, Sunroof & few other options. Car will be built in November! For you horsepower nutties, you can tune the VW Golf GTI Clubsport up 100 horsepowers, so with the famous German Oettinger tune, ud get 360 Horsepowers... hehe ;)

My friend owns a garage and I always go there after work. Ive been going there for 5 years not and I've never seen a Honda in there except mine for service lool. VW golfs and BMW is what pays his bills 😂! Truth be told
