This is a short video of my 2008 Toyota Rav4. It has 176,000 miles on it and it uses about a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. I have received a Warranty Enhancement Notification - ZE7 from Toyota. I took it to the dealer for the other recalls and asked them to start the oil consumption test. They seal the system and I have to drive it 1100-1300 miles then go back to the dealer for them to check.

This is what the Toyota dealer has done to my vehicle. I will be updating in future videos about the results.

Update: I went back to the dealer today with 1200 miles since the test and they found that the rav4 was a quart and a half low. They are going to replace the pistons and rings and some other parts in the engine. They said that they have a sheet that Toyota gives them with which parts are to be replaced. I will update when I get the rav4 back from being repaired.

Great video!! Glad to hear that Toyota is taking care of your RAV 4 too.

It's all that because of faulty piston rings which were not properly manufactured and assembled from the factory Toyota plants.

I also had a 2007 rav4 that started using oil around 15, 000 miles and Toyota just like all car companies gave me the runaround.  I hear so many people say that Toyota is taking care of their customers lol  funny really it took them like 10 years to fix the problem that they knew of for over 10 years and the only reason now they are fixing is to not deal with a lawsuit that would hurt their reputation. I got so tired of taking mine back and them telling me sorry everything is normal and matter of fact sir they said your owners manual even says oil consumption is normal lol.  Im glad they are FINALLY  admitting fault in their product.  Im an automotive engine machinist now for over 15 years and its sad that it took them this long to help their customers out I mean you pay good money for a new vehicle and you gotta worry about your car burning that much oil and taking the chance of locking up your engine. I just hope they don't halfway rebuild it because anyone that has worked in a dealership knows how they cut corners like using sanding discs to clean up the head and block surface to save time which on aluminum is the incorrect way to clean the matting surfaces but any way I hope they fix your consumption problem. Just wish they would of owned up to the problem when it was first reported instead of saying don't worry its normal just check your oil more often lol

My car has 194, 000 miles and it failed the oil test. But the dealer told me they could not fix my car because it exceeded the warranty. How were you able the dealer to fix it for you?
