Hi Dr.Emily, I am in my mid 20’s and I’ve had pigeon toed for years. My Mom says she asked doctors when I was younger and they said nothing was wrong. Well I have flat, slender feet, and dee hip dips. I started to experience some pain in my hips and my feet have always gotten those awful foot cramps. Like when I am working out or after working out during the cool down my foot will cramp up if I just rotate my ankle. Sometimes it happens out of nowhere. I believe I’ve experienced it more than average.
Because I have had them for years (foot cramps) I got to the point of being able to sense when it’s coming. I can tell “if I keep my foot in this position or move just a bit more a foot cramp is coming on” and that “ok it’s coming just breathe and let it take it’s course. The less you freak out the easier the pain goes away and the less intense it is” or “move your foot now to avoid the cramp!” And I believe my hip dips are a part of it.

Thank you for this video. I learned a lot about intoeing (pigeon toe). As a toddler I had braces on my shoes to keep my toes pointed out. Later in my childhood I would sit in a W and my mom would get me to stop doing that. I’ve always still been pigeon toed all my life (I’m 50 now) and it seems a lot worse lately. I do sit a lot. I was thinking exercising or stretching might help. I do think my knees point straight and my toes point inward. So that would go along with the bones twisting I guess. Maybe I’ll see a dr. My hips actually hurt a lot. I was told I have bursitis. I’m sure stretching will help with that. It just seems like I have to walk duck toed in order to look normal if that makes sense. It takes a lot of focus to do this. At this point in my life I really don’t worry about looks (as a kid I was teased). I just was wondering if it was causing pain in my hips.

I did ask my PCP he doesn’t think it has anything to do with my neck/shoulder pain or hips dips. Well I want to do x rays. Just expensive. And Thank you for posting this video I can’t find ANYTHING on here! It is always about kids!!! Like I’ve been told I “waddle” I never noticed my piegeon toed feet until 10 years ago when my friend pointed it out. I’m like what? Waddling? What are you talking about? And she pointed it out and would always say I’m slouching and coach me on proper posture lol. She would say “shoulders back chest up” I still suffer from poor posture and believe that it’s part of my pigeon toed walking for so many years and my feet are mostly flat.
