Halo: Reach has one of the more polarizing Campaigns in the First-Person-Shooter Genre, and especially within the Halo fanbase. But why do so many people hate and love Bungie's final installment in the Halo franchise?

In this video and Part 2, The Act Man will be taking an in-depth look at Halo: Reach's Campaign, address the criticisms and talk about why he thinks it is SO AWESOME!!!

Special Thanks to my Patreon Supporters who voted for me to make this video!! And special thanks to Teh Spearhead for making the thumbnail!

What I like about Halo: Reach is that in order to win, you had to lose.

"Six! That AI chose you. She made the right choice."
I remember hearing that line for the first time, and it gave me chills. It pays homage to the relationship between Cortana and Chief. For example, at the beginning of Halo 3, Cortana made a reference about how she could've chosen any Spartan she wanted, but she chose John because he was the luckiest of them all; he's also the bravest and the best of the Spartans as well. Cortana made that same decision with Noble Six. He was simply the best of Noble Team. And as a player, you feel emboldened because the game puts you in the shoes of Six. You ARE Noble Six, the Spartan who passed the mantle of responsibility.

UNSC Command: " Excellent work Emile for defending the civilians"
Emile: "We were defending?"

"He gave his life thinking he just saved the planet, we should all be so lucky."
That whole segment was gut wrenching. As soon as he died and you think things are looking up, a whole covenant fleet showed up. Sometimes you just don't win.

Halo: Reach had a real military feeling, you aren't saving the galaxy, you're a normal soldier just following orders and I think that military feeling fits all of halo perfectly.

I'll admit, when Kat got shot through the head I actually short circuited for a minute. It was so sudden and unexpected that there was no way to subconsciously prepare for it. And that is how you know it was so well done. Because in war, a lot of the time death is just around the corner and completely unexpected. One moment you could be thinking about your loved ones back home and the next you could be showered in the brain matter of your comrade who'd just been shot by an enemy sniper.

I really think Reach added a tangible sense of reality to the true nature of war.

I love the detail that Reach begins with Noble 6 puting his helmet on and ends with him taking it off

Edit: Thanks for 2.4k!

I absolutely love that Noble 6 wears the custom armor you decide on in every cutscene and actually has the weapon that you were holding when the cutscene activates!

I couldn't agree more with the whole "not every soldier gets remembered for their sacrifices, but war shouldn't be glorified either" theme of Halo: Reach. Take Jorge's death. Jorge made a heroic sacrifice. He took out the Covenant command ship. He did everything that was necessary, in the situation at hand, to defend his home. He achieved his objective successfully. And yet, immediately after he died, his sacrifice was nullified.

"No, Gonna steal it back" I love the way the voice actor reads that line. It's very playful despite the seriousness of the situation.

Emile loves killing the covenant because they killed his brother (who sacrificed himself for Emile) and they glassed his home planet (not Reach). His goal is to see their downfall and avenge his brother more than anything else.

The closest we get to a story about noble team was the live action trailer where the original Noble six died and Kat lost her arm

Also, imagine Noble Six made it onto the autumn. 1 UNSC ship. 1 Halo ring. One covenant fleet. 2 hyper lethal Spartans.

Halo Reach ages like wine. The older I get, the more I appreciate it. And I CANNOT WAIT to play it on PC one more time. Remember Reach.

My favorite part about Reach is that instead of playing in a post-apocalyptic wasteland (cause that's really cliche nowadays), you get to play through the entire apocalypse start to finish, each level showing the planet falling into more and more chaos. It's genius.

I love the realistic, grounded feel. In the sense that this feels like a war. It gives a sense for how bad the war with the Covenant was going, that despite all the heroics, sacrifices and effort we all put in, we're still losing. It made the universe more real to me

I never seem to get chills in my favorite game's cutscenes. But when noble 6 says "negative, I have the gun" refusing to leave and ensuring that the Pillar of Autumn can get away safely, I just can't help myself.

I dunno about you but I looked at Noble six as myself, I was him, I wasn't simply playing as him I kinda forgot that other people had the same character. For the first time in a Halo game I felt like I was there, everything was on my shoulders and I had a duty. I felt like I was going to die with six when he made that choice, and when he died I felt like I lost a part of myself along with him.

Sorry, I hate being feely but I dunno how else to get my point across for this game.

Reach was in my eyes THE perfect Halo. You got to be your own Spartan thats all I needed.

I kinda envy noble team. They had a reason to live, and a reason to die. They each died believing they did the best they could. I envy them having such a fulfilling sense of purpose.
