I bought the audiobook of "erebus" when I saw this video earlier today and have listened to half of it already. It is the best audiobook I've ever listened to and the story is absolutely amazing!

Wonderful choices, Alice.
I loved “The Sakura Obsession”, and thought “H is for Hawk” was good, too.
I recently completed and appreciated “ Why We Sleep” by Matthew Walker, “Origins” by Lewis Dartnell, and “The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee” by David Truer.
I also enjoyed “Notes from a Young Black Chef” by Kwame Onwuachi, “The Education of an Idealist” by Samantha Power, and “For Small Creatures Such as We” by Sasha Sagan. (The best non fiction read for me this year though, was, “Big, Wonderful Thing” by Stephen Harrigan.)
A few of my fave Fiction books of 2019 were “Happiness” by Aminatta Forna, “This Tender Land” by William Kent Krueger, “Ducks, Newburyport” by Lucy Ellmann, and “The Nickel Boys” by Colson Whitehead.
Looking forward to another great reading year, as you are, and have dozens of non-fiction (and fiction) books on my pending booklist to read. ☮️💜📚

Half of my non-fiction TBR comes from your recommendations. 😃
But what I really want to read soon is Caroline Criado Perez: Invisible Women.

Your TBR is so freakin' interesting! Hopefully I'll find and read some of those books! The books I really, reeeally want to read are: Finding Gobi by Dion Leonard, Cleopatra, a life by Stacy Schiff, The immortal life of Henriette Lacks by Rebecca Skloot and Jom Kipur by Ivana Šojat (she's a Croatian author and I would like to read more of them!) 😊

Nice TBR!
I have quite a few to read but I think the definites are Dispatches by Michael Herr (which I believe was the inspiration for Full Metal Jacket) and The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee (hopefully I spelt that right!)

"Ada's Man" by Rick Bragg. "The Hacienda" by Lisa St.Aubin de Teran. Read them over & over!

I've read H is for Hawk, and it felt like a book that must not have been long enough, so the author went back to make her words all flowery. Maybe that's just me.

Have you read Wilding by Isabella Tree? If you like non-fiction about nature then that's a must-read I reckon.

My goal this year is to read more non-fiction so thanks for all the recommendations. 😊 The first book I read this year was Amanda Knox’s memoir called Waiting to be Heard. I really recommend it and also her Netflix documentary! Have you heard about her?

if you’re interested in the erebus, I think the tv show The Terror is also focused on that ship, but a fictionalized look at what could have occurred before its abandonment.

in addition, my own nonfiction/true crime/memoir tbr: breath of whales, the library book, the falcon thief, lab girl, educated, I’ll be gone in the dark, the rise and fall of dinosaurs, devil in the white city, and the immortal lives of henrietta lacks

If you haven't read Wicked Plants by Amy Stewart or The Hidden Life Of Trees by Peter Wohlleben, I think you will enjoy them! 📚🤓💋

All of these look really cool. I’ve added Erebus to my TBR! If you enjoy reading about plants you may like How to make a plant love you by Summer Rayne Oakes. She’s algo got a YT channel that’s extremely cool 😊

I was upset by how bad H is for Hawk was to be honest.

H is for Hawk has another layer. Enjoy.

Notes on a Nervous Planet was a bit superficial, and not that well written. It reads like a collection of Tweets.

If you are interested in social media and mental health and what any user can do to protect their mental health I recommend Cal Newport's Digital Minimalism instead. It is much better written, and it tackles the issues in a more constructive way.
