But how do you stop McAfee changing to Yahoo! in the first place? Anyone can change it back, but McAfee will just change it to Yahoo! again after a few weeks!

You can also change search engine settings from secure search to chrome.
Just type search settings in the search box of settings.

Remove Yahoo Search From Chrome on Desktop
From the three-dots menu, select “Settings.”
On the “Settings” page, in the left sidebar, click “Search Engine.”
You will see a “Search Engine” section on the right. ...
Chrome will open a “Manage Search Engines” page. ...
You are now ready to remove Yahoo.
