LYRICS:

Mojave Song Gavin Dunne 2019

Broken bone and liar's lead
Caught off guard and left for dead
Luck keeps turning as the light begins to dull
And by healing hands I'm saved
Pulled from my shallow grave
I can feel reprisal aching through my skull

Set my sights on shining spires
Set out on the highways tired
On the desert sands and ruined roads I roam
And this old lonesome road
Shall bring me what I'm owed
These new empires on old stones shall be my home

Under the Mojave sky
I find a flag to fly

To tip the odds and rig the game
Deal another hand and play
Every card a shift of circumstance
Let every bettor stake their claim
Deal another hand and play
Stack the deck, I'm letting nothing fall to chance

Atop the glistening tower
Watching the struggles for power
The house sees every deal
Within this town
Behind the gangs and the walls
Keeping a close eye on all
Old secrets buried in the underground

To tip the odds and rig the game
Deal another hand and play
Every card a shift of circumstance
Let every bettor stake their claim
Deal another hand and play
Stack the deck, I'm letting nothing fall to chance

Lumbering across the west
Ruined treasures repossessed
Resurrect the old soul of America
Laws and labour, structures tight
Memories of faded might
Resurrect the old soul of America
And oh
The bear is roving across the west

Shadows loom
All go soon to war

From the chaos comes form and order
From the many comes the one
Out of the east prowl upon the borders
Come to crush and overrun

Brutal the bull, gouge out the weak
Tongue of tyrant at the core
Force of ancients, strike down the meek
Raise the flags, the banners of war
The banners of war

So tip the odds and rig the game
Deal another hand and play
Every card a shift of circumstance
Let every bettor stake their claim
Deal another hand and play
Stack the deck, I'm letting nothing fall to chance

Scattered strays who've lost their meaning
Brotherhoods who hide and horde
Followers of help and healing
The addicted lost and scorned

The secluded rumbling thunder
And the spite of prison bars
And the vengeful eyes of wells run dry
That watch me from afar

Someday the change will come and wash the doubt away
The heart of the desert will beat harder on this day

This song ate my entire life for the last month. Spent over 150 hours making it. Just like New Vegas it had a troubled development (including having to re-record all the vocals as I was unhappy with my original performance) but I think it ended up pretty great :) Enjoy the results!!

I love the metaphor of the factions being players at a poker table and the courier as the dealer able to stack the deck in the favor of a particular faction.

"Up next we've got Miracle of Sound... With a song about my favourite place. The Mojave. Take it away, Gav... Take it away." - Mr New Vegas

"I'll leave nothing to chance" actually has a double meaning because in fallout 3, speech checks were a dice roll even at speech 100, but in NV, it's a 100 chance if you're over the neccessary. Pretty cool :)

"And the vengeful eyes of wells run dry..."

Ulysses' former tribe, the twisted hairs, lived in a settlement called Dry Wells...
Once again, Gav's lyrics are outstanding.

You know a game is good if Miracle of Sound gives it an eight minute epic years after it originally came out.

The vengeful eyes of Wells run Dry is such a bloody smart lyric, I'm dying. Literally. Rad poisoning from how rad this song is.

This needs an animated re-release, with each faction represented at the poker table.
NCR: a McArthur like general with eyes hidden by glasses
Legion: Roman centurion with his eyes hidden by his helmet.
House: the casino boss over your sholder
Ect ect ect
Edit: just realized the other lesser factions also mirror each other, so you could actually have each facing each other with their resource like a set of betting chips.

Brotherhood and enclave in their rusty armor with tech
Followers and Kahns in white dusters and black leathers with medical
Powder gangers and Boomers in their different blue jumpsuits with explosives...
and opposite the table from the courier, the dealer, is Ulyssies staring at him from the shadows of the doorway.

Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a Miracle of Sound Song...

Oh. There's one now. Alright, thanks Gav!

"The bear is roaming out across the West"

Now I want an entire song about each faction sung and played in the tunes used in this video when they're brought up

This is really fantastic, and seeing such a beautiful song for such an old game coming out now gives me a wonderful hit of nostalgia, feels like 2010 again

This nod to Wasteland Soul in the end brings so much warmth to my heart

The Courier is one of the scariest and most badass characters ever, imo.
Your first mission is literally to find the prick that _shot you in the head and buried you!_
