Actor Michelle Williams said she was ‘paralysed with feelings of futility’ after being 'paid less than $1,000 compared to the $1.5 million' that Mark Wahlberg had received 'for the exact same amount of work’ while reshooting All the Money in the World. Speaking in Washington DC on 2 April during a hearing about closing the gender pay gap, Williams said the lack of initial reaction as the most depressing element. The controversy only seemed to come to public attention, she said, after the actor Jessica Chastain tweeted about it

All the Money in the World. She's a brilliant Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-winning actress. She has been in the industry for 20 years. She deserves more than 1% of her male costar's salary."

I would blame the agent or manager. She held all the cards in that negotiation. They wanted to reshoot a finished movie. She could have asked for 2 million. Mark Wahlberg is a waaay bigger star at the box office.

Recently, Picasso's "Les Femmes d'Alger" sold for $179.4 million. My painting of colorful shapes recently sold for $12.95. Life is UNFAIR!

They wouldn't complain if Sigourney Weaver was in the same movie with higher pay.

How about pay all your actors equally depending on how much time they spent on the set and not because one actor is much famous than the other. I know life is sometimes unfair but that doesn't make it right.

Mark has a significantly higher box office draw than Michelle. The reshoots could have interrupted or conflicted with other plans he had, so he negotiated and was compensated. Michelle hasn't been relevant since Dawson's Creek, but she could have negotiated for way more than $1000.

"for the exact same work" um you're an actor it's fairly obvious why you're not getting paid as much.

Why don’t you just pull a Jesse Smollett to get more money?

There shouldn’t be equal pay in the arts unless the work is valid.

First of all. Who the hell works for $80 per day? It's you own fault for not negotiating a better deal than that.
Secondly. You are not Mark Wahlberg. No one ever heard of you and no one is going to buy a ticket because of you. You are not worth 1.5 Million Dollars.
It's not the work you are paid for. It's the amount of tickets, you are going to sell, what you are paid for.

You know. Hollywood is all about that recognition. The more recognized you are the more money you make. It’s a pretty simple calculation. When I heard that mark made a truck full of money, I’m all like, “ok, I know him from at least 10 movies off the top of my head”. When I heard she was “paralyzed” to know he made more than her, you know what I did? Ask myself who the hell michelle Williams is and then had to google her. I would expect J-lo to make more than someone I had to google too. It’s not a gender thing. It’s a you’re not a big name thing.

While it was initially reported that the actors filmed the reshoots for free, [32] it was later revealed that Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million while Williams only received $80 in per diems. Wahlberg's fee for the original shooting is alleged by The Hollywood Reporter[33] to have been $5 million, while Williams is reported to have been paid $625, 000. The New York Times has reported that Wahlberg was paid 80% less than his usual fee. The $1.5 million Wahlberg received for reshoots was in addition to this. Wahlberg's contract allowed him to approve co-stars, reportedly refusing to approve Plummer as Spacey's replacement unless he was paid extra.[34] In response to the backlash brought on by the difference in the actors' pay, Wahlberg announced he would donate the $1.5 million to the Time's Up movement in Williams' name.[35]    - WIkipedia

I go to work every day and do a great job and she makes a lot more money than me. And I'm sure a lot more than some of the male actors she works with. But she doesn't mention that.

While it is good that she is raising attention about the issue of equal pay which is of course an important one, her situation is completely isolated and unique. She had already been paid substantially for the film she worked on and the other actor, Mark Wahlberg, had negotiated a different payment with the producers because he has significantly higher box office value. Of course it was ridiculous that he was paid that much it’s ridiculous what ALL all the actors get paid at his level. It has to do with their value in the industry and has nothing to do with gender. When the situation came out they paid her more money, but again it was a unique situation of emergency re-shoots so Wahlberg held a gun to their heads because he could.
