Czech Pirc Defense Theory! Learn to Play the Varuzhan Akobian Trap!

In today's video we cover the Czech Pirc Defense, a strong chess opening for black against e4. The Czech Pirc looks to combine ideas from the Philidor Defense, Pirc Defense, and Black Lion Defense - combining all three of these into one cohesive system. The Czech Pirc Defense combines chess opening strategy, chess opening theory, chess opening principles, and chess opening moves. On top of that, the Czech Pirc Defense offers some chess opening traps against e4, one of them which we are covering in this video! I find the Czech Pirc Defense to be a great chess opening for beginners and intermediate players as well. With it combining the Pirc Defense/Philidor Defense/Black Lion Defense + it's solid chess strategy, this can help you win at chess and beat higher rated players. In this beginners chess lesson, we cover one of the top chess opening tricks and traps that can help you win games fast, and we hope you'll enjoy it!

Akobian is a great teacher. Love seeing his videos on the French and of course this classic Czech Pirc.

Thank you for posting this. It's a key variation in the Czech Pirc, and anybody who plays this opening should know it. (Even though I think you already covered this in your video on the Czech Pirc.)

Please give us more czech pirc!!!! I learned it and only play it but I'm having trouble against kings gambit, queens gambit and Dutch stonewall style openings and could really use some advice. Please and thank you!!! If any viewers would like to help further my scholarship I would appreciate that also. 🙏

I like play this Czech - pirc defence, but most players, when we move our queen cover their knight using black bishop.. Hence their knight is unpin.

I saw another video that said you are meant to wait for them to capture your E Pawn, pin the Knight to the Queen so it can't attack E5 and if your Queen runs into difficulty retreat it to C2 which is the safe square.

Top player akobian, and so is the opening.

They never play that, they just defend the pin with the bishop and you lose tempo massively, show the real moves real players use plz

Nice opening !
Do you know of an opening for white that provokes early trades ? Like getting to a quick endgame / queen trade.

At 4:15, when white's pawn take the Q and then R x R +, the second white rook is not necessarily captured because white can block the check with its knight.

What if instead of moving the Knight on D4 in beginning of the trap he just defends it with the dark square bishop? Which is a more natural move then moving it or defending it with the queen after moving the light square bishop please answer I am stuck here?

What about if white pushes the pawn to e5 on move 5 instead of moving the bishop?

I never considered Be7 instead of fianchetto.

its so hard to use this opening if white using pawnstorm on the king side..

this is a bogus opening. After Qa5, most of my opponents plays Bc2, resulting in me to kick back my queen.

Dude, you speak too fast for people trying to write the notation of your moves and you often fail to declare the opponent moves in a fast paced video. Please slow down, and if necessary have a look at a few Mato games.
