20:46 Czech Pirc Defense THEORY!

In today's video, we take a look at another Czech Pirc Defense game. What is the Czech Pirc Defense? Look at the following moves below:

1. e4 d6
2. d4 Nf6
3. Nc3 c6

With that third move from the black side, we are officially in a Czech Defense setup. The Czech Pirc Defense is one of the best chess openings for black against e4! In this game by @VBKramnik (Vladimir Kramnik) we see a beatufil Czech Pirc game which highlights good chess opening theory, chess opening principles, chess opening ideas, chess opening strategy, chess opening tricks, chess opening traps, chess opening lines, chess opening variations, and chess opening moves. In chess, it is important to not only pick a chess opening, but also learn why you are playing certain moves! This is helpful as understanding chess strategy will help you in your overall game, in addition to when the theory portion leaves the main lines/main variations. In this video we also include chess opening ideas that are used in the Hippopotamus Defense (Hippo Defense), Pirc Defense, and Modern Defense. Many chess openings such as the Pirc Defense, Modern Defense, and Hippo Defense overlap - and the analysis of this game shows some of these chess ideas off.

The Czech Pirc Defense is a very strong chess opening for black against e4. The Czech Pirc Defense is also a good chess opening for beginners. Why? It is easy to learn, and the chess opening theory/chess opening ideas/chess opening moves/chess opening principles/chess opening lines/chess opening variations are simple to grasp and utilize. The Czech Pirc Defense has also been used by many players including Vladimir Kramnik, Varuzhan Akobian, and Michael Adams. In fact, there is a video on this chess channel covering when Garry Kasparov lost to it! See below for more chess opening videos on the Czech Pirc Defense!

I also included some chess opening theory videos on the (regular) Pirc Defense, Hippo Defense, and Modern Defense as many of the ideas in those chess opening systems overlap with the Czech Pirc Defense!

Hello Solomon, I am beginner in this game and I just discovered your channel. It’s absolutely what I was looking for. I didn’t know what to play when I had the black pieces. Thanks to you, I can start building a solid repertoire for blacks, not mentionning the tactical skills this defense provides. I am very interested in a course about the Czech Pirc defense examining all first moves by whites, e4 and d4, of course, but also the uncommon ones. For example 1. Knight c3 or 1.d4 d6 2.Bg6. By the way, I’m french and you have this rare talent to be totally understandable for a beginner like me. Sharing your knowledge is an amazing gift for me. Thank you.

Czech speaks for itself. Actually there is a new German Chessable course on the Czech ("Tschechisch") available, also the Short&Sweet version.

Thank you! I’ve been playing this for years but there isn’t as many trick and traps and line videos as other openings so this will help me so much as I get good openings but lose it a lot middle game wise

Obviously, Solomon, you KNOW, I'm going to vote yes / comment on / purchase any course that has the word "Pirc" in it.... but I'll say it anyway. YES! Please make a course lol

I would love a czech pirc course. I like playing hyper-modern with the black pieces and I learned the basics of the czech from Robert Ramirez videos and I would love to learn it in-depth with a course.

personally i would play gxf6 over Bxf6, just because i feel like its easier to manuver the king in the position. i also dont really know what i want to do with my bishop after Bxf6

I have two courses and one book about the Czech Pirc, but all of them don't find a convincing way to get a decent position for black (that is at least close to equality) in the most critical lines. If you can provide a course that can do that, I will definitely buy it.
