"Saturday Night Live" star Pete Davidson was a longshot when he auditioned for the show at just 20 years old. Now, six years later, he is co-writer and star of his first major film, "The King of Staten Island," about a drifting twenty-something. "CBS This Morning" co-host Tony Dokoupil pays a visit with Davidson to New York City's least-celebrated borough, to discuss how Davidson’s childhood, parental loss, and depression helped shape his movie. Dokoupil also talks with the film’s director and co-writer Judd Apatow.

Pete Davison is probably the most relatable person in Hollywood but he doesn’t even realize he’s in Hollywood

I noticed he really gets choked up discussing his life with comparison to parts of the movie. He is still really hurt inside and outside. I feel for him.

Pete Davidson really doesn't give himself enough credit. He is a very talented person.

Edit: People, all I said was that I think he's a talented person. That is my opinion. I respect your opinions, but, please, don't be cruel and mean to other people. You can have your opinions, but it doesn't mean you have to trash talk each other.

"How close did you get?" Really?!? NEVER ask such a question on television. Keep strong Pete. You're an inspiration to many.

Anybody else feel like how Scott felt at the beginning of the movie? Just wandering through life not knowing what to do or even if you're going to be successful in it.

This is a guy you would grab a beer with and become friends. A celebrity that didn't grow up in the "celebrity world, " just a guy who wants to make people laugh and make the world a little brighter. I think he's also really talented too.

Pete Davidson is truly one of my favorite human beings out there in the lime light. He gives me hope- not much does. I’m so grateful he has made this passion project. I can’t wait to see it, bud!!!!

“How close did you get” is a major failure of the interviewer. That is in an incredibly inappropriate question.

He lost his dad and later he was an addicted-suicidal...John Mulaney lost his brother and later was addicted. And now they are doing so fine, it is great.
