I Made My Own REVERSE Coloring Page?!

You can download and print my coloring "page" here;

Last video I tried out a reverse coloring book! You draw the lines, it's very creative and a unique spin on traditional coloring books and pages. This week I thought it would be fun to make my own reverse / backwards coloring page and it's free to download!

Love it! It must be a rule, drawings of palm trees have to have coconuts, and drawings of grocery bags always have to have French bread sticking out!

It reminds me of looking at
clouds as a kid and finding
shapes in the sky. What an imagination stretch!

I thought the randon purple blob in the sky looked like a fish with a long fin on the bottom... and then you put dolphins in the sky so I thought for SURE you were gonna make the purple one a fish too but you didn't LOL!:) Thank you for sharing and making that available for free! That was so sweet! Love your videos, Chloe! You make me smile every time!

With watercolor, one key thing I’ve learned is to let the paint dry between layers. It will stop the muddy colors.

Nice to see you get inspired I the last video and did something you actually wanted to do... I hope you enjoyed making this video ❤

I do this a lot! I’ll throw down H2O colors and then let them guide me to how I illustrate the page after they dry. My artist friend (Dan Hogan) does comic illustrations and does this a lot too! He did a whole series last year doing a smaller version of this technique with a couple of watercolor strokes. Love this video Chloe. I think this will inspire many to do similar art.

They turned out SO PRETTY ohmygosh (;w; ) In the first one I saw a small mountain creek lined with pink and purple flowers. And the illustration looks like an origin story! Like all the creatures and foliage are literally bursting into life. Thank you for making them available, as soon as I saw your video on this last week I was like "I WANT TO DO THIS." It's such a cool concept.

Also, I don't know why it took me so long to watch your videos, but I just started watching you a few weeks ago - and I FREAKING LOVE YOU AND YOUR VIDEOS. You're hilarious and humble, super honest and authentic, you're an incredible artist, and you just seem so real. Even some of the silly things you do I'm like, "Ohmygosh I do that, too, " lol. I dunno, your videos themselves are great, but you're also the kind of person where you give others permission to be themselves however they are and however they want to be because you do the same. Thank you Chloe for being such an inspiration <3

The first picture is giving me Sea Dragon vibes; the second picture for me inspired me to go one of two ways: 1) mermaid and jellyfish or 2) faerie's

Either way I love that the reverse colouring technique has given you inspiration and I truly appreciate you making your reverse colouring pages available for download by the rest of us....I cant wait to print mine out and get started

At 2:32 I saw the blue as a little stream and the brown as bridge over it and the green as tall grass growing around it all and the purple being flower bushes and the other brown spots as either rocks or dirt. When you finish I can definitely see the peacock idea.

I’ve made a ton of reverse coloring on canvas using alcohol inks, and zentangled over the splotches. Very cathartic.

Hey Chloe! As a seasoned watercolor artist (basically just means I've painted with watercolors for over 15 years) I've a bit of an advice for you, that might make this coloring reverse production a bit more fun: start with wetting the entire page, not load it with water, but a thin moist surface. Then you drop some choice colors and let them bloom, technical term is wet on wet, that'll give you a blurry effect and set a bit of a base. Once it's dry you can go over it all with some of the same colors, or new colors, that'll give a layer effect and the technique is called wet on dry. Hope you can have more fun with watercolors! 💕

When I need inspiration, I like to take one of my kids' old finger paintings from preschool. I have 6 kids so plenty of inspiration there 😂 I know they were not allowed lways concious of what they were making, so that is the key.
First I try to find shapes or even caricatures of people, animsls, objects, then I try to mimic their art but woth my own color scheme.
That is what these coloring books remind me of.

Btw, your purple blob is clearly a prawn that some bird droopped and is now crashing back to the ocean 😂

Oh Chloe! Lol! Sweetie sweetie sweetie. A white ceramic palette is your friend with watercolor. You have a whole range of wonderful shades which can be created by adding more water. All watercolor artists who are watching you dab paint right out of the tube are crying!

That said, I do love the bright splodges that you created and think it would be fun to draw on.

Love you girl! Keep painting!

I did the same thing last night! Yours was the last one of several reverse coloring book coloring videos I’ve watched and I was like „I have watercolors, I can do it myself!“ and I hit the same struggles you did! I also used a water tank brush and my colors were far too dark. I’m going to try again, trying to keep my colors much lighter. Though I like the “my little pony sea horse in a fancy dress” creature I created 🤣

I haven't read all the comments so maybe somebody else saw it but you're blue spot that you wasn't sure what it would be in the sky. Looks like a blue bird of happiness to me 😊

Sometimes I save your videos to watch when I'm feeling down, I know you'll always make me laugh. I wish I had already seen the reverse coloring book, I've never seen this technique, it's very inspiring! Definitely gonna give it a go, thanks for the video.
