Trying a REVERSE COLORING BOOK for mindful relaxation!

We’ve all used coloring books and know how relaxing it can be to color inside the lines. But what if there were no lines like in this reverse coloring book. Whomever came up with this idea is a genius. Well let’s just say I got hooked and it’s just as relaxing if not more as there’s a certain freedom in reversing the process.

Many years ago, as I was walking my mom thru her cancer battle, I discovered scrap booking. It gave me that sense of joy in the midst of extremely exhausting day upon day upon Every where I looked was pain, sorrow, grief, hard work, responsibility, etc. Scrap booking the time span of my daughter's from birth to about 6th grade was a joyful filled experience. It was my escape from my life. I spent time, late at night after everything else had been done, looking at adorable fotos, thinking about the what, why, and where of each picture. I lovingly created each page, journaled on it and went to bed to start the next grueling day. Scrapbooking got me thru the valley of the shadow of death, literally. Art does that. It can take you from where you are and transport you to someplace else, no matter your medium. (Cooking, baking, candle making, polymer clay, quilting, you get the idea, any medium.) These days my daughter's are in their 30's and I make cards. I have now found that making each card, a mini work of art, blessed me as I create it and blesses me when I see it bless another. As a young person, as a busy young professional and mother I did not value art. It was ok, just not for me. I have learned that everything God gives us, even art, is necessary for health and strength and joy. Thank you for your channel. Each of your videos imparts that same sense of joy in creating. You are a God given treasure in my life and I am grateful. 💖

Hi there, Keren, I have never heard of the Reverse coloring books before. I have created similar sketchy paintings with watercolor, and then later doodled or created a sketch with them. Having one of these books handy for an appointment when there’s waiting time, and I thought they would be particularly useful and fun, when I don’t really feel like getting out supplies and create something. During these moments for me, I tend to just doodle onto something. The 4 Elememts that you played with looks “right up my alley, ”. So I put it on my wishlist, going through you, of course. Keep well. Your hair looks ‘Mauvelous Dollink.” I really like it.

It’s a great concept. But I have to ask if it was the artist (or artists) who made the books? I hope so. Or at least I hope they are credited and paid for their work. I’ve kept a lot of the art I’ve made that was kind of “meh” and have done similar doodling on it, finding faces and objects. I do like the idea of intentionally making something abstract with watercolour or ink, and then doing the reverse “colouring in”. If you make a colour photocopy, you can have an even smoother texture (and make more copies 😊).
