Thanks for this video. Basic setup could not be simpler thanks to your help. Got 76 channels here in north Phoenix/Glendale- way more than I ever picked up with the TV's built-in tuner. Not tried any recording or advanced functions yet but for basic over the air tv watching function and sheer number of channels picked up, I'm impressed.

Hi, I bought this Ematic converter Box to use on an old CRT Tv in a bedroom. I got 16 channels. However, I just cancelled my satellite service that was being used in the family room with my HDTV. So, I decided to use this Ematic on the HDTV for the purpose of a recording option.
BUT surprisingly, before I hooked up this box to my HDTV, I plugged an antenna to it first (TV) & did a channel search. I got 3 channels. I re-positioned the antenna a few times & every time I got the same 3 channels. SO...when I plugged in the Ematic to my HDTV, I instantly received the same 16 channels that had been showing in the bedroom crt Tv without having done a channel search. I was surprised, because it seemed like my 5 yr old Vizio HDTV "needed' the Ematic to get all these channels.
And this TV has a digital tuner installed already as most newer tvs do too now.
So I do have a question, I have the box set up without using the HDMI cable. If I did use the HDMI cable, do I keep everything the same connected and will it change/make better the picture quality or benefit any way else? Thanks

I have 2 of them and it do work and I love it I record my local channels that I really watch I have it hook up to my out door TV antenna and it work great I set it up to my TV with my hdim and I still have my internet and my Amazon prime and Netflix so I am happy with that

Everyone please note the ematic box does not compress video when it records so it will use 6X more space than a cable box. On my cable box 1 hour would be about 1 gb. (non-HD). I recorded for 1 hour on the ematic box and it used about 6gb. Keep this in mind folks. Granted the signal was prob HD so it uses a bit more than non hd but you'll still use more space than a cable box for the same amount of time.

Hey, Jonathan, couple of questions: 1. Did you have success w/ the feature that allows you to program the unit to record, as opposed to the manual recording you show here? If that feature truly was available, did it let you go more than a day into the future to record? Lots of folks get bummed by the Channel Master DVR's from the past (CM-7000PAL DVR, Dish DTVPAL DVR, CM-7400) not having the Premium Program Guide available anymore, yet the units still go for $200 every day on eBay. Just trying to find something less expensive that still does the job & it looks like this is carried by my local Walmart & might be just that. 2. Did you hook up your own personal hard drive to do the DVR piece or is it internal? Seems like you indicate it's external/your own, but wanted to get the perspective of experience. Thank you, sir!

I have the same converter box and have a question. Do you know if it is possible to record in a lower video quality format? I recorded a 1 hour tv show and it took up 7GB of space on my flash drive. I'm trying to record at 720p or lower quality to save space but I cant seem to find the setting on this converter box.

Hi. If using a coaxal cord from from the box to the wall and a hdmi from the box to a *monitor* will that get TV channels on the monitor?

It records fantastic True HD....but recently, it shows Metv clear but when I hit record picture goes bezerk??? I tried in NTSC issues..but always records abc channel flawless...using philips rabit ears and phillips 4k 55inch. Why does cbs ota always act
