Did You Know In PETER PAN…

The opening line of “all this has happened before, and it will all happen again” is hinted at in the final scene of the film. When the whole Darling family are looking up at the ship-shaped cloud, Mr Darling says he feels like he’s seen the ship before, when he was very young. This alludes to the idea that Mr Darling had an adventure with Peter Pan when he was a child, just like his children have, but he has forgotten and dismissed it in adulthood.

So the Darling family visiting Neverland is a generational thing. First Mr Darling, then Wendy & brothers, then Wendy's daughter Jane.

Or, maybe he was a Lost Boy who decided to grow up

Fun fact: the story of Peter Pan was originally a play in 1901, before becoming a book adaptation in 1911. The book is like a novel version of the play, I’ve read the entire thing, and so it explains some things like it is a play script. At the end of the book, it explained how Wendy would go back for spring cleaning, but once she became an adult, Peter took her daughter Jane every few years for “spring cleaning.” It also explained that this would repeat over and over again, with each new generation coming back to Neverland for spring cleaning. The story of Peter Pan was only the story of how the generational journeys to Neverland began.

Edit: Holy cow I check back after 4 months and quotations will be the death of me. To clarify so you don’t need to check the replies, Spring Cleaning was an excuse made for Wendy to be able to go back to Neverland, she only wanted to spend more time with Peter and have fun in Neverland. It’s almost never in spring and barely any cleaning involved, I’m extremely sorry that it was so confusing for people.

So Peter is specifically targeting this one family, that's not creepy at all 😂

Yeah, I thought it was a joke relating to Captain Hook and Mr. Darling always being played by the same actor in the play version

Mr. Darling is lucky to have made it out alive.

If you look at the sequel this can also be seen as foreshadowing 🧚

I remember reading a book series called Peter and the Starcatchers, where Neverland first started as an ordinary island with its own people but the magic itself came from stardust, that wound up creating merpeople and fairies, and even Peter Pan. Mr. and Mrs. Darling were supposedly the same age, and had grown up fighting pirates and protecting the starstuff from a shadow monster. I'd imagine that he grew up and put all his adventures on the back burner when he became a banker and loving husband and father to his wife and children. Deep down, I don't think they'd forgotten about the boy who couldn't grow up. ^^

Mr. Darling is lucky that he got away from Neverland alive…in the book Peter Pan by JM Barrie, Peter would kill the Lost Boys that were getting too old…(he’d “thin” the Lost Boys out-hence likely kill them)

I wonder how many pirates that hate Peter are actually former Lost Boys that managed to escape from Peter and get sanctuary from the Pirates…

It’d definitely turn the story on its head regarding who the real villain is…

Edit: if there’s a reason why I can’t say that the book by JM Barrie actually says that Peter “thins” the Lost Boys out please just do a reply comment, so that I can edit my comment instead of just deleting my newer (or this) comments that try to clarify what book I was referencing about Peter killing off the Lost Boys…
There were multiple requests in the replies to my comment wondering what book I was talking about, and I was trying to show that it was the original book and not some published fanfiction.
Thank you.

Mr. Darling and Captain Hook have the same voice actor.

I never noticed just how well the expressive animation was done for this film.

The real question is “who didn’t know this”

The mom always believed in Peter Pan, the dad saw the ship when he was young, and the children's children go on adventures.

But remember, no lost boy chooses to grow up. They all do and they either get killed or run away. Peter is the only one who stays young.

Honestly, peter pan is the reason why in private i am still acting like a child. The film showed me that getting older is okay, but i should never lose the joy of my childhood and since most of the joy from my childhood came from how i acted i still act like i did when i was 8 when i'm at home :)

Like Susan from narnia when she became older in the books. She dismissed narnia ever happening and grew up to live in the modern world where she was then banned from narnia after her whole fam died in a train wreck. After they all went to paradise in Narnia, Peter said Susan was no longer a friend of narnia and therefore couldn’t join them ever again.

It will definitely happen again. Peter comes back every Spring for Wendy for Spring cleaning, but as she grows up, he forgets about her. When she has her daughter Jane, he takes her as well until she grows up. Then Jane has her daughter Margaret, and Peter takes her too.

There's so much content that Disney can resort to, Wendy's mother clearly has too, perhaps two separate families have been taken to Neverland

That’s the whole premise of the book. He takes children who never had a chance at a real childhood and gives them an adventurous one.
The lost boys end up coming back with Wendy and they forget Peter too eventually.
