Great video! As a Santiaguino i tell you... bella vista is a tourist trap, guys if you want a cool neighbourhood with lots of good food options go to Barrio Italia, it's (kinda) close to cerro san cristobal also.

A few years ago, I was a volunteer with this NGO and exchange students. Like three days prior to the students' arrival, we had a massive downpour in Santiago (which means a lot of snow in the mountains). I vividly remember a finnish guy just staring in awe at the white wall in front of him, shaking trying to snap a photo and mumbling "...it's so pretty". He was having an epiphany right there. And we were like "yeah, whatever. Get in the bus lol".

I think sometimes even we forget how unfathomably beautiful is to see that mountain wall always guarding us, and the sunrise slowly appearing. Specially in autumn, when the colours are prettier.

Come to Santiago! Avoid Bellavista, that's a tourist trap. Prefer Lastarria or Barrio Italia for a nice afternoon meal/drink, a good vibe, and the feeling that your wallet isn't being punished.

Chilean here, and I gotta say this is a great video for tourist, but I must add, that if you time on your hands, I recommend a short trip to the south, specially all places near by the lake Llanquihue, it's gorgeous, and there's a lot to see there too. Thanks for visiting Chile, there's a lot to see from Arica to Magallanes!

06:06. Yes, there aren't a ton of parks in Santiago, but there are a bunch, mostly in residential districts, like the big ones, Quinta Normal and Parque O'Higgins (both have namesake subway stations). In the downtown, there is Forestal Park (Parque Forestal) and other associate parks which align to the South bank of Mapocho river; the main part goes from Plaza Baquedano (subway station Baquedano) to Estación Mapocho (subway station Puente Cal y Canto), passing by the Fine Arts Museum (Museo de Bellas Artes).

I thank you a lot as a Chilean, for portraying our country as It is: unique. Us locals sometimes forget how beautiful our country is, with its bad’s and goods, and you’re doing a great job making us realize that, with the point of view of a foreigner with a different perspective.

@6:55 Yes, if you have time and the Memoria y Human Rights Museum is extremely well done. Not a huge museum but it has storyboards on rampways to follow the history of the dictatorship in both Spanish & English with exceptional visuals. It's rather new so very well curated and preserved. I took my time to see everything and it was two or so hours.

10:22. Maybe there are completos with guacamole somewhere, but they usually have mashed avocado, lightly seasoned. Completos usually aren't spicy, you add the hot chili sauce to your taste. Guacamole sauce is a Mexican specialty.

To every future tourist, you are more than welcome here in Santiago! I recommend you trying "Mote con Huesillo" when you go up Cerro San Cristóbal, is a very cheap and delicious non-alcoholic beverage from here and you can find it on top of the Hill.

To include a couple of details :
On the flight in take a window seat and check out the Andes on your way to approach landing.
When taking the funicular in Cerro San Cristobal, check the architecture of the stations below and atop, by chilean architect Luciano Kulczewski

If you want to see the city and the mountains from the Cerro San Cristobal, go after it rains. Normally, there's a lot of smog, and you can't see much. But after it rains, it's beautiful.

14:37 It's a mixture. Santiago is naturally foggy most of the year so even when the smog is in low levels you can mistake it as pollution.

Thanks a lot Wolter to show my city. I love Santiago, I love my city, and I live near of the Bellas Artes Museum. So, for the people that want to come to Santiago, I recommend to see the Barrios Lastarrias. There you have Wine bars, Chilean and peruvian mix of restaurants (with a lot of fusion food and Pisco, fantastic liquor) and some Fuentes de Soda, where you can drinks beers and piscolas, also eat some classic Sandwich: Completos, Churrascos (meat, palta and tomatoes), Barros Luco (Cheese and meat) and Barros Jarpa (special jam and cheese).

Great video, thanks! I was in Santiago in January of this year. Fantastic city, great people. Agree with everything you said. Also, when you order aqua, make sure you order it "sin gas, " unless you want it carbonated.
