12:14 The "holes on the side" have nothing to do with the pickup pattern or it being "cardioid" (an SM58 is cardioid and doesn't have those.) The slots along the body (and the shape of the capsule/body of the mic) are a part of the Variable-D design that helps reduce the proximity effect.

I have the re320 and re27nd. To me my favorite is the 320.

What shock mount are you using for those RE27's? I'm not interested in the 309 solution so I'm on the lookout for something smaller.

The RE 27 seems to pick up a lot of flack from YouTubers but I find when properly adjusted (like on this video), they have (in my opinion) a more natural and clear sound. Especially with deeper voices.

The RE20 was designed for broadcast not kick drum. Also the mic's that had that problem and were dropped usually 30 years old.
