Jake is my favorite. This is the real type of advice I want: not a simple answer, but a thorough understanding of why there is no simple answer.

I love this series! I hope it continues and covers all the major parts of a house!

If the reason trusses aren't mentioned in the Code when they are known to be superior to anything in the Code is because they need to be engineered and certified by the engineer, then all the Code needs to say is "trusses as engineered and certified by a suitably qualified and registered engineer" or something very like that, and then the trusses are there in the Code for anxious clients to see so they know it's all above-board.

How about LSL vs. LVL vs. PSL vs. Glulam etc? Where would they fit in?

What would you recommend if you wanted to avoid floor creaking and flexing?

Im still trying to decide what to do, trusses 18" deep...either 19.2oc with 7/8" Advantech, or 24oc with 1 1/8" Advantech. Any suggestions?

This is interesting. I thought this video was named “DELETE” and then it got deleted? I did download copy of that video, which now makes me wonder what has changed?

How is it calculated for a cantilever floor joist? Where one end is hanging in space?

Just use the best. Spend a little more to get the best product.

I thought you used Imperial in the USA unlike the rest of the world that uses the metric system
Cause at 14 minutes as your talking about floor loading you talk about the tile council being metric??? Were they the group that put out "And the floors come crumbling down" which was a huge smash around rhe world and by all accounts it blew off the roof of the house!

Matt is there a real reason houses are so much cheaper in Texas?

"You're more likely to have more people in your kitchen, dining, or living room, than your bedroom, according to the code at least." Jake really is a building expert; it's not his first time building a sex dungeon.

No one will just say which is stronger, stiffer, and produces less bounce. If all things were equal, ie; all of them on 16 inch centers, who wins?
No one will do a real test or comparison of them.

Here we go again, to much talking... just go direct to the point advantage and disadvantage of particular material vs the cost.... code..code...code. every state have its own code...so stop mentioning about the code....
