FAQs??

-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?

This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.

-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?

Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.

-How much yarn do I need?

Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.

-What equipment do you use?

-What do you do for a living?

Super beginner here! The process of crocheting takes several steps… I only just mastered the slip knot this morning after practicing a little bit for 2 days…and just now made my first chain… now I am just practicing the chain until I have mastered the tension and holding the crochet hook which is an art in itself…when I find myself getting frustrated I just unravel the string and try again and it’s getting better!!! Maybe tomorrow I will be able to move onto the next step. Thank you for your help!!

This is the ONLY way I can learn to crochet. I've tried sooo many different tutorials and videos and this is the only one that I've ACTUALLY made progress with my crochet. I can actually make things and have fun with the craft now!

as a beginner, this is actually hard HAHAHAHA but i find this activity interesting because it shuts my mind off, like a mental noise cancelling—it's a good distraction for me, maybe this will be my new hobby this year

my nightmares will just be the words ″yarn over, pull through″ repeated over and over again from now on.

Soooo this is not a success story or anything but maybe it can motivate some.

About 10 years ago I saw my friend crocheting in class. I was in 8th grade, we had sewing lessons incorporated into the curricula, but there were no crocheting and knitting lessons. I asked my friend to teach me, I even bought a hook and yarn myself but... somehow I just didn't understand my friend's explanation and after trying and trying and always failing, I gave up.

Now I've never been a very patient or diligent one, so I just thought "maybe this isn't for me anyway" and for a solid 10 years believed that I'd never be able to do it at all. I'd always say "yeah I can sew but I could never crochet/knit".

Then suddenly I was asked to sew a felt doll as a gift for a graduating friend. As I sew I thought to myself, "well, isn't this a relaxing hobby?" The reason why it's relaxing is because I do not need to think anymore once the doll plan is set, I just need to repeat the same movements (sewing) without thinking. Now this is different from my other hobby which is drawing, with drawing I feel like even if you've had it all planned (e.g. by sketching first) you always have to dynamically think about stuff along the way. It's a fun and stimulating hobby, but not relaxing enough for me. Again this is just what I think, as a comparison to sewing.

Then I suddenly thought, "well... what about I try crocheting again?" So I watched these tutorials and sure it looked easy enough, I've always been a person who learns the most through examples not explanations, and finally bought a new set of hook and yarn because I lost my previous one from the middle school days.

Lo and behold after some beginner mistakes... I was able to finish a piece from the tutorial. It's a non-functional small square, but I did it. I finally gained the skill I had believed I could never get for the last 10 years.

I thought hard about it after. How many opportunities and experiences have we lost just because we think we can't, and will never be able, to do something?

Alright. To end this, I encourage you guys to try something new, even if you have failed on it before!

Thank you Bella Coco for the tutor! Please continue making excellent tutorials on crocheting! ♡

Gosh, I knew crocheting wouldn’t be easy, but this is so hard! My friend is also teaching me how to do it, so now I can learn from her and from you 😊

For those of us whose mind prefers learning through exploring, and doesn't do very well with linear step-by-step processes: just crochet wildly and see what happens. My square quickly went off course. And instead of trying over or giving up, as I did before, I decided to just roll with it. And I ended up with a very cute little bowl.

The hardest thing about crocheting truly is holding the hook correctly/ optimally. I think this is why grandmas teach it best. They hold the child’s hands and affectionately guide them.
