US Condemns Violence in Bangladesh, Calls for Calm | Dawn News English

US state department spokesperson Matthew Miller addressed concerns about the situation in Bangladesh, where massive killings and internet shutdowns have been reported. Miller condemned all acts of violence, called for calm and de-escalation, and expressed support for peaceful assembly.

He also urged the Bangladeshi government to restore internet service and rescind shoot-on-sight orders.

Additionally, Miller discussed the reported involvement of Indian forces in Bangladesh and the sentencing of Bangladeshi protesters in the UAE.

He emphasized that the US stands with the Bangladeshi people and supports their right to peaceful protests, but ultimately, alternative leadership in Bangladesh is a question for the Bangladeshi people, not the US.
