How entitled does someone have to be to believe that a professional reviewer owes a startup a good review? If it doesn't work, it doesn't work and that's on the startup for releasing the product in this state.

That dude saying "First, do no harm." is either an idiot, a shill, or he has investment/works for the company. I don't care who you are, how hard you worked, how much you care for/ see the potential of your business, if you're gonna charge me money, you take the truest criticism of your product. If it sucks, we reserve the right to tell the world, and you should welcome that. It let's you know exactly how to get better. You put out a crap product you tasks the consequences. And they're not saying MKBHD lied, they're crying cuz he wasn't nice about saying it. Tough. Deal with it.

I think it's a cool concept, but isn't very practical for most people. It's gonna get lost, broken, smashed, crushed, wet, dropped, and can be easily stolen. It's not rugged and is just awkward to use if you have baggy clothes.

MKBHD was just doing his job.

Thanks for the report good sir!

For $700 and then $24/mo (which is ridiculous for the entry price), it's a terrible product. Everything it does your cell phone does better. You know, the the device you already have that's about $700 and you pay a monthly subscription for...

Mrwhosetheboss released his video a few hours before Marques’ video and no ones complaining about his poor review, he even had the ceo to chat with

To that guy who said "First do no harm": what about doing harm to us consumers by taking $700 from us *plus* $24/mo while giving us a crap product? What about that harm?

Do no harm? To...venture capital. When venture capital pledges to do no harm to the consumer instead of saying "caveat emptor", then, maybe...a slight chance of being easy on the review.

We need to stop bending over backwards to shield startups from criticism. If your product sucks, you don’t deserve to survive as a company—that’s the risk you signed up for as a VC too!

This is the perfect example of "a solution looking for a problem"

this thing is trash. it's literally a worse option when it comes to everything.. bad battery, bad phone, stupid input, overpriced plan, device way to expensive, wearing it on your chest is stupid, slow, over-reliance on AI hype, just a spectacular flop.

And marques just reviewed the product as it was delivered.. if your trash product is still in the utter trash phase of development, then don't release it yet.

I really think it's clearly intentional that the Pin doesn't connect to your phone, because it would honestly solve a lot of the problems. No need for a sub fee to have its own cell connection if it just piggybacks on your phone. You could much more easily develop apps for it. You could have it process things way more quickly with the increased power in your phone. Hell I imagine the battery life might even be better if it only has to do a short-range bluetooth connection instead of a long range cell connection.

But the issue is that if it forced you to interact with your phone, you would realize that your phone can already do basically everything this thing does, and better. Like This is basically just a standalone Siri or Alexa style device. Nothing this thing can do is really that noteworthy beyond being a neat gimmick. Like yeah the projector is cool but is it really that convenient to have to hold out your hand in a specific way and look at a mono-color low res image projected on the bumpy surface of your palm? Compared to just pulling out your HD full-color phone with response touch controls.

And like who really wants to use a device that almost exclusively operates on voice commands out in public? Even if there's not a ton of people around are you really going to be talking into the aether to have your pin tell you about a local restaurant you're walking by? Especially when you can get much much more accurate and detailed information by just googling it on your phone.

This thing isn't quite Juicero tier, but it is pretty far up there in terms of just utterly pointless technologies.

So much potential… but already have Siri on my wrist, iPod, iPhone, iPad… even Amazon Alexa in the living room. It’s not unethical to call a product currently useless when it clearly currently useless.

It's a great concept and could be fantastic in X years, but mkbhd reviewed it as launched current day and currently it's not a viable public product. Marcus' review highlights where they can improve, that's immensely valuable data this early in its production cycle. Fools are just complaining to complain without understanding the systems at play.

Honestly the only way this would work is with augmented reality.

Just wait till a scraper gets a hold of the link to the web portal Humane is storing all the images on. I bet anything there is no security and someone can pull then look at all the pictures anyone ever took and sent to someone else. Marques said instead of sending images directly to whom you text, it gives them a web portal link. This reeks of security concerns.
