2D vs. 3D Sprites in Pokemon #shorts

I know there are some good 3D sprites but overall I do miss the charm of 2D sprites

BW has the best sprites. Full of expression and unique. Did you know that cofagrigus could hide their hands and shut their face off to look like a complete coffin? I loved that animation.

The 3d model for porygon-Z is absolutely perfect

Gen 5 was the absolute peak of sprite design. There are a handful of Pokémon that I think look great in gen 8 though, like Rowlet.

You ever see Kangaskhan's attack animation in Pokemon Ranger? Currently replaying, and it uses a Mega form 10 years before megas were a thing, with the baby hopping out and bracing against the Kangaskhan's leg as the Kangaskhan hyper beams

Washed out is the best way to describe it. The colors in gens 3-5 were stunning.

The 2D sprites where definitely WAY better. Especially the gen 5 moving ones.

I like the part where you show both sides of the spectrum like Arcanine in Gen 9 which retained the adorableness and the fiercesomeness of the original sprites

Honestly when I saw the 3D sprite of Archeops i fell in love, it looks so silly and i feel like its struggle to fly is a good reflection of how heavy it is with its rock typing :)

3D sprites do have their own unique charm to them but theres just some things like the insanely washed out colours and certain models that just kinda ruin it

The whole point of hitmontop was a playful, fun, spinning top. All of the 2d sprites show him spinning, but the 3d ones have him standing ON HIS FEET!!!

Nidoking suffers the worse he goes from looking like an absolute monster to a purple rabbit/rhino/mouse

Typhlosion ignites his flames when he enters battle, so it makes sense for it to be on. On the poke amie/ refresh his flames need to be off since he's no in battle.

They used to have personality in the sprites. Now it’s just the mon standing there lifelessly
