We've reacted to this clip before; however, it was unfortunately banned in the UK, so we're releasing a commentary of the video without actually showing any footage in our video.

If you're new to our channel, we are Americans living in the UK. We make three new videos a week and would love it if you subscribed to our channel and hit that notification bell!

I love where the one priest is showing Ted his Nazi collection and Ted awkwardly asks “Do you have anything from the Allied side ?”

The priest replies “oh no that type of thing wouldn’t interest me at all.” 😂

The man outside wasn't making fun of Father Ted - he was genuinely concerned that the Church might be advocating racism, but he didn't have the time to take part in it! The lady was only racist against the Greeks for inventing 'gayness'.

3 incompetent priests get banished to a remote island & get in to all kinds of scrapes with the What's not to like?

Father Ted will still be funny in 30 years time. That's the measure of great comedy.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I highly recommend trying to go back to the very beginning to really get a grasp of this gem of a show. Yes it makes fun of the clergy but never in a mean spirited way. The writers are Irish and create some hilarious and surreal situations.
A group of priests accidentally finding themselves in a lingerie department and then subsequently trying to escape as if they were trapped behind enemy lines, is a classic.

You have to realise that Father Ted is completely surreal. A lot of British comedy operates on this level; you create an alternative world - often as if you were a child trying to make sense of the adult world, or an alien puzzled by the strange things we do, or just someone with a hyperactive imagination - with its own ridiculous but somehow consistent logic. In such a world someone will shout over the fence "I Hear You're a Racist Now" to the local priest in mid conversation about the weather or something equally mundane. Or a Hitler-moustache-shaped stain somehow appears on the window.
The point is that it's all bonkers but follows its own bonkers logic. It makes us laugh because it turns our own world upside down, it challenges us but in a non-threatening way. I believe humour has huge importance because of this ability to confront our assumptions without bullying or threat.

In British culture ( as was) NOBODY, RACE, or social standing, was immune to ridicule and criticism. And should always be so. It's what we are, what we do/did.

The best part of the episode is the slideshow at the end, where Ted tries to show the Chinese community the best of Chinese culture, but ends up showing them Mr Miyagi, Ming the Mercilious and Kato.

The episode is like Blazing Saddles, where it took the piss out of racism.

As someone who was born & raised as a Catholic in Ireland, I never thought I'd see a comedy series laughing at the priesthood, Comming out of Ireland, & it was brilliant

The thing about Father Ted is that it is funny for everyone. But to Irish people it's SO much better because it's a piss take but quite accurate! Btw the male neighbour wasn't making fun of Ted, he's being genuine. That's why he's funny!
I like you guys, gorgeous little one btw!

Father Ted has been banished to the parish of Craggy Island for embezzling church funds, Father Jack for philandering and alcoholism and Father Dougal for the mysterious "Black Rock incident". Father Ted never gives up hope that he will one day be forgiven and return to a normal parish, preferably a rich one.

I was happy to see you liked the clip and we're not offended by the racial aspects. I was disappointed that you seem to be so sexist that you will not even give Vicar of Dibley a slight chance.

Father Ted is a good likeness for a Catholic priest, Father Jack likes a drink, the house keeper is spot on. And the young priest is a bit dim, classic !

That's one of my favourite episodes. I believe the woman who comments "I hear your a racist now." Then asks if the Catholic Church position was that she should be racist.

It's a shame that the clip in the link doesn't have the final part - with the perfectly square piece of dirt on the window whilst waving hello to the Chinese family, or the part where he inherits another preists "collection"

If telly was invented just so that Father Ted was made, that´s justification alone. Just watch every single episode.

Honestly I think you should give Vicar of Dibley a chance, it's just a television show and not really to be taken to seriously. Just my two cents though.

Vicar?
That's actually more racist than you think 🤔 🤣 😕 😂

Where’s the reaction to it? No video of it just you talking about yourselves

Of all the videos you have reviewed I would recommend Father Ted. It is so off the wall and it has a lot of hidden jokes and once you get to know the characters you will love them.
