Being a Brit, I was raised on this stuff. You used far far too much! Put lots of butter on your toast first, take a very small amount with the tip of a knife and spread sparingly. Fine streaks, not a thick coating! The first try is a shock to the system, but you learn to love it!

This is so hilarious considering how much I love Marmite, I’ll say now my 2 favourite combinations of Marmite are with cheese toasted, and the Marmite Cashew nuts.

Marmite is a nectar that is used extremely sparingly until you're used to it. Us Brits can eat it from a spoon, but absolutely do not do that if you haven't been brought up on it for 30 years or more. It's incredibly strong and should only be tasted lightly. That stuff will blow your head off.

Americans always get it wrong. You need loads of butter on your toast and just enough marmite to flavour the butter. You do not need to cover the whole slice. Having said that, there are still people who will always hate this delicious, mouth watering food.

To be fair, you had about 10X more Marmite than you should have had for a first try. Marmite is brilliant stuff, excellent for vegetarians (like me), and so tasty. Love it!
