why would she care about losing? She has literally NOTHING to lose, and a title to gain. If she loses all that happens is the status quo stays the same. She would still be considered one of the best chess players to the point where the world champion was nervous and offered her to draw. That’s literally as good as it gets without winning, so there’s nothing left but to try winning.

My understanding is that this game was a replay of an actual championship level game that did in fact end in a draw at that point several decades ago. With modern computer chess programs the computers could show how a person could win in that situation. The the ending was the computer version of how to win, which no person had figured out before that.

When you put the flashback in her eye, that was sick. Best series I've seen in my life. The chess games they played were amazing, and real! Watch the matches where Magnus plays and comments on it. Hilarious hahaha love it

fantastic movie.. easily rewatchable... i love how she dives into that role.. and the casting for other players.. is just spot on.. Chess was royalty back then, on the world stage.. MUCH more prestigious than its viewed now.. and USSR took immense national pride, beating Western players..
this was an epic battle of two Superpowers.. in the game, and outside of it..
SUCH a good movie...
