Its really obvious that the writer dislikes superheroes, but it honestly just comes off more ridiculous than dark. "Yeah, the whole team only brought starlight on to r*pe her and then homelander gets angry and throws a jet." In what world would a company that creates super humans just not have any kind of failsafe. Anyone can write a story where everything sucks. The Boys comic was an interesting take on superheroes but it lost that appeal because the heroes are inhumanly evil and unbelievably incompetent and they never change. The heroes are nothing more than fodder only existing to be killed. Their designs are jabs at other dc/marvel heroes and they mostly die unspectacularly to fill another comic panel. The TV show actually captured the comics potential and it's honestly sad the writer let his dislike of heroes impact his take on a great idea.
