If you want drop things like a professional you need to watch Linus, no one can drop like Linus.

That drop test was like a knife through the heart 😂

Some people treat the parts as if they were made of glass and they are about to break any time. They are not that weak, but ideally they shouldn't be dropping like that anyway 😢 these things have reached a price point that you better treat them with love 😂

This GPU has earned its survival. It will grow old and have many offspring

That Short was more Horror to me than any movie i have seen in the past 20 years.

Well, that *1060* is light, so the damage isn't that big.
What would happen when a heavy GPU like *4090* drops. I guess even small height drop would do quite a bit of damage.

This reminds me of those late night ads for safety products... the actors in those commercials literally lose all motor functions & skills, having difficulty even eating snacks or walking outside. :D

the fear is plugging everything in to find out the pc does not turn on

the funny part is; when you do it intentionally everything is fine. Drop it by accident and it snaps in half :D

I love that Jay let it live. That's 100% the right call

Personally I’m more scared of bending pins than dropping parts

Chaos theory, , It could get bricked on the first drop... Murphy's law says it will get bricked if I drop it..

I'm not scared of the graphics card at all. Recently I was building a PC with a thread ripper and uncovering and putting it in the socket was probably the most scary part of any PC build I've ever done. Combination of thousands of dollars and thousands of pins, horrifying.

Every time you drop that card, my brain gets a shockwave.

Props to you for not destroying it just to get a big reaction from the kids.

Well Jay-Z you made a point to a degree as far as the fear factor, however there are a lot of factors at play. Also you have to remember that manufacturers do independent research and testing on their products sometimes a little more rigorous than you. But that does not mean it is indestructible and there are factors during the manufacturing process at play. Some may have excellent components with proper soldering and there are some not so much.

They do account for the occasional accident or mishaps but is not a guarantee that it will not receive any damage. Sometimes it can hit or impact in such a way that might break a weak soldier joint. Care and caution should still be at play but don't panic. I do not recommend intentionally dropping them, you should treat with care but accidents do happen and you should not fear it but be careful none the less.

I myself have dropped an electrical component a mere 2' on the floor, it looked fine with no visible damage, but when I plugged it in and applied power it shorted out. When I took it apart I discovered that a soldier joint was damaged on the PCB board. Let's just say it can happen and that there are no guarantees. There are inherent risks in everything we do in life, but should be no reason to not do anything and just depends on the amount of risk involved. Sometimes in order for us to learn we need sometimes to risk.

I actually accidentally did this not too long ago, ended up dropping my 3070, when upgrading to the 4070. Everything turned out fine. I was able to end up selling my 3070.
