VPK Group’s grade conversion in Alizay, France - Cooperation as the key to success

VPK’s grade conversion project at their Alizay mill follows the successful collaboration between VPK Group and Valmet on the Strasbourg mill conversion in 2013. The Alizay paper machine now produces recycled lightweight containerboard grades with reduced emissions.

The project involved several technical upgrades, including a new approach flow system, modifications to the headbox, a shoe and blade technology upgrade in the forming section, and the installation of a new OptiPress Center press section to improve drying and runnability. The drying section was upgraded to OptiRun Hybrid, and extensive improvements were made to the air systems, enhancing production efficiency. The delivery included a full automation package with machine control systems, sectional drive control systems, quality management systems, and process control systems.
