2:58 "Germany didn't have sufficient or reliable access to fuel at this time." What Italy achieved running on foreign fuel supplies in WWII is nothing short of a miracle. You can sort of see why the Reggia Marina seemingly took a overtly cautious approach. Hungary and Romania must have made a fortune from them.

As a sidenote, the SMS Mackensen was figuring on the list of ships to be interned in Scapa Flow after the armistice, despite being incomplete and not even seaworthy. The battleship Baden was sent instead.

Great as always Drach
Wow, a class of seven BC's. That would have been the largest class of German capital ships ever built.
I can easily imagine the British building even more ships to counter them.

I'd love to see a video covering ship designs that never came to be, like the J3 battlecruisers and P class cruisers in this vein. What they wanted to accomplish, how far they got, and what was good and bad about the design ideas.

I love how popular your show is. There must be more people than I thought interested in ships. I guess after 19 years of military equipment being transported around the world there be a significant amount of foremast hands to enjoy your show. Thank you.

Scrapped. Man, the more I learn, the more comical the naval arms races get. It's like that Yosemite Sam vs Bugs Bunny shootout. (Six-shooter, nine-shooter, 12-shooter!)

So, can we expect a review of Design L20e-a aswell then?

Could the Baltimore class CAs be considered for future addition to the list of Vessels to make a guide for?

Drach, Might you add the type (NC) for those ships laid dowb but never completed. This would isolate the puerly paper designs, like the Tilmans.

Looks like the secondaries are too low, and would be washed out in anything but a calm sea.

The typical German bows have a strange beveled stem shape ...even without bow torpedo tubes. Too deep for icebreaking in the Baltic, I thought maybe drydock limitations. But I've seen drawings of smaller German commercial freighters with similar bevels. Better weight-distribution buoyancy??

The full name of the third ship of the Mackensen class was Prinz Eitel Freidrich Freya.

It would be interesting to explain the origins of the name "Mackensen" and the fact that a rather high ranking Russian Navy officer had the last name of "Fergis".

How about the minelayers HMS Manxman and HMS Welshman? What was the thinking behind them?

Interesting fact: The ship is likely named after a living and serving officer

I expect World of War$hits to make a substantial line of Battlecruisers for both the British and Germans, kind of like the “alternate” US Battleships with hypothetical evolution of Colorado DNA except these would be lower tier.

British had Invincible class battlecruisers with 3 turrets 2x12” (or maybe that was the broadside?) so that would be a great start for Tier 3 and they had plenty of actually built Battlecruised to fill out tiers 4-7 and then the G3/N3 paper ships potentially. For the Germans, lower tiers would be great for the likes of Moltke, Derflinger, we do have the P.E.Friedrich and I had believed they would do the bigger Ersatz Yorck perhaps with a better plausible name for Tier 7 and then for Tier 8 the O Class which they did finally create. It might have had to stop there which is a little unfortunate for the whole 10 Tier structure of the game but it would still be fun and interesting. Instead we got CV rework and Subs lolololol

Misread the title I thought it was SMS Mackeson which sailed with her sister ship SMS Guinness.
