For those of you who have a problem with the speed with which he talks ... YouTube has under the settings the ability to speed up or slow down the the play speed. I would suggest you play at .75 speed if you are having problems keeping up.
Awesome tool. I seldom watch a YouTube video at 1x speed. 1.5 or 1.75 allows you to watch and learn more in the same amount of time I usually watch vids at at least 1.5x

Starting 4th week since rotator, labrum and biceps. 2 screws. Started PT a week after surgery. Pain over all is quite manageable though I have bad hours every so often. Currently getting some sleep in bed with a bed wedge though only a couple hours here and there. My biggest issue is my right hand, the surgery side, is still swollen and stiff and not functioning well. Overall, making progress and pleased. Been mostly off the Oxy since day 3 after surgery though I still take one every now and then when tylenol won't take care of it. That's rare though. I enjoy your channel, Doc. very helpful and informative.

I am 4 weeks out arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery and joint was cleaned out, has a small to medium tear . At 2 weeks I was back at the gym but did legs and non surgery arm only and ride stationary bike. I found that made me feel way better and somewhat normal. I've been very careful all the time and keep sling on, especially when sleeping! I've had dreams and my arm tried to reach out and punch someone . Overall the first day when block wore off was worse ! And it was BAD even on meds . I think something stronger for the first 3 days would make it more bearable but I get it I'm a vet so I am careful prescribing them to animals because owners take them ! I'm hoping to go back to work at the 6 week mark ! Good info thank you for video

Hey doc, I’m a 57 yr old firefighter and am 18 days post rotator cuff and biceps tenodesis. Only took narcotics that first 24 hours after due to extreme nausea, been taking an average 400-800 ibuprofen once a day and lots of ice. Haven’t been able to sleep in bed yet, only recliner. Every 2-3 hours my wrist/hand wake me due to pain, 8/10 sometimes. Shoulder hurts daily but the level of pain Is dependent on how active I am that day. Thoughts? Maybe caused by sling or temporary nerve issue? I see surgeon tomorrow for my first post op visit. Appreciate your videos.

Dr. Orcutt, I am scheduled to have surgery on my rotator cuff next Friday. I really appreciate your videos, they are preparing me and easing my anxiety some. I really appreciate the tips on fiber and stool softeners, as well as the anti-nausea meds. I can't fathom dealing with emesis and trying to figure out how to position myself, while in pain at the same time. I'm definitely going to share these videos with my family, so that we can all be informed and know how to properly deal with me post-op.

Thanks again, I have looked at a lot videos on Rotator Cuff repair but there is no mention of emotional awareness and emotional healing. Three weeks after massive tear surgery and everyday i feel the fear and anxiety which can be overwhelming with over-thinking. The intention to change my focus and be present gives me the calm after I feel the emotions. The wise but simple quote from Bruce Lee helps me do this, 'Don't think, feel'. Injury and surgery are opportunities for me to enhance my emotional awareness and subsequent clarity of mind. The clarity helps with every aspect of my life. Thanks again for your work.

After surgeries on my husband at least the last two he can’t, how do I say this, pee. First time we ended up going back to the ER at midnight and they put a catheter in and oh my goodness. He was about to pop. His last surgery was reverse total shoulder replacement. I made it clear that I wasn’t taking him home until he used the bathroom. We were there until 10 pm and I told the nurse that he needed a catheter. That worked and we finally got out. 🙌🏼 Thank you so much for your videos.

Four months out now from acromioplasty, bicep tenodesis, rotator cuff repair and a few other tweaks and adjustments. I hadn’t at all anticipated that it was possible to have an adverse reaction to the pain medicine used during surgery and the prescription afterward. (Opioid induced hyperalgesia is real, extremely vicious and increases all pain for a very long time.🙄) Let’s just say that I had little to no sleep for about two months after surgery. Now I’m facing surgery on my other shoulder from a recent large labrum tear. I’m trying not to panic, but knowing I can’t take any kind of pain pills - really has me concerned. What are other forms of pain relief that allow at least some good, healing sleep? Ice, yes - check. Ibuprofen and Tylenol - both stopped working after about a week or two ... something about being a slow metabolizer and becoming quickly tolerant. How do people do this without any pain relief? (I mean, without going slightly bonkers that is.😁)

Thanks for the good information. Do you have any suggestions for keeping fit during recovery, especially during winter when you don’t want to risk falling on ice?

Doc. I am two weeks after surgery have been back to work I eat really healthy and have always been into health and fitness. I have been off pain pills since day 3, and my doc. Wanted me out of a sling and said I'm making a remarkable recovery I go to work just drive forklift now and some other things where I'm not over stressing the shoulder. I had a bicep tenodesis, I drink bcaas every day and electrolytes powders. I am not super man but my body has been through paralysis from transverse myelitis, adem myelitis, cdiff, atrio fib. Blood clots to lungs and heart was on life support that all was 20 years ago. Maybe my body has a faster recovery rate because of the trauma its been through in the past but my Dr. Said he's never seen someone's body recover this fast before any idea? I had bicep tenodesis, debridement, and rotator cuff partial tear repair. Don't have full range of motion yet but it's week 2. Last week I needed help bathing so things are progressing.
