It's because of his experience. He's been there and done that before all of these other Spideys put their tights on.

He calls the USB Drive a "Goober" because he's seen scenarios so many times, he doesn't bother to spend the time thinking about them anymore.

And, in the sequel, he caught Miles when no one else did. But he just wanted to talk.

He knows Miles, he knows all the Spiders. He knows what they're going to do because he used to be them.

He is the Obi-Wan of Spider-Men.

The saddest part for me is when you see him go through the divorce/his depression is that he's always wearing his costume. If I'm not wrong, every time Peter goes through some horrible event that affects him to his core he either abandons the suit, or rarely takes it off. I swear, Peter is a spectacular superhero, and no one can deny that.

Jake Johnson was an amazing choice for a VA for spiderverse. I honestly do wonder what would've happened if the original peter parker lived.

1:31 This scene is so well made you could feel the sadness from not only the music and tone but even the mask’s eyes that are shaking: it’s obvious he was tearing up; not to mention the reflection of the documentary of the seahorses where we can see them embrace!

A lot of people see him as this laid-off giving up Spider-Man, but that just means he's much stronger than we think. Even now, being a bit overweight, 40 years and with a general lack of effort, he can still keep pace with the other Spider-People. So if he was at his top form, and given that he's been Spider-Man for 22 (or 23 in ATSV) years, he's one of the most experienced Spiders, he would be a menace.
