How does a godly man or a godly woman respond to the unexpected? Pastor Colin Smith preaches about the godly king, Hezekiah, and how he responded to an unexpected crisis. He preached this sermon series during the March and April 2020 lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The series helps us think through sickness, healing and restoration, and the hope we have in Jesus Christ during times of crisis.

Thankyou Colin Smith. I've been watching your sermons frequently and intend to carry on so doing because they've been a great blessing

I have a question regarding this sermon. I understand that it would be to tempt God to disregard the means by which he works, and that during the pandemic it was right to do what we could to reduce the spread of the disease and look after ourselves and others.

However, scripture also commands us to not forsake coming together.
Would it be tempting God, or would it be trusting God to obey the Spirit inspired scriptures over and above the means to keep a healthy body?
Because many, of a bodily necessity carried on going to work.
So surely of a necessity for spiritual nurturing we should carry on doing what we are commanded to that end in this and any similar circumstances?

This was so helpful. Thankyou. But just one question comes to mind - from Hebrews " not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together"
Obviously not meeting if you're actually sick - that would be thoughtless and harmful. But for people who are not actually sick - which is more important? To obey governments or the word of God?
