Went to school in Van, BC, when Hong Kong hot money poured in. My buddy had bought a house in a Toney neighborhood, then worked 20 years to pay it off. Hong Kong drove Van BC housing prices into the multi-millions. My buddy sold at the top and retired.

UK land is distributed around the globe... many islands. Small islands. They would need to stick together but the resources within the economic zones of all these territories is actually quite large.
