One of my favourite locos, although( it's for sentimental reasons) is my old hornby class 37. 37130, it's because when I worked for BR 37130 was the first loco that I worked on on my own.
Other than that my favourite locos are any class 47s.

Picking two R-T-R models to save in my collection would be incredibly difficult. However, I do have two kit-built locos from DJH that I'd automatically keep over any of my R-T-R stuff. The reasoning is simple. It's because I built them and as such will always be extra special. They are an ex-LBSC Class C2 0-6-0 and an GWR 1366 Class. Both run beautifully and are DCC fitted. I only want to build kits now, because the satisfaction of something I built running on my railway just can't be beaten.

PS. You may have seen my C2. My layout is the next one after yours in the March 2021 Railway Modeller.

I know I’m late to this but I love the Garrett 2-6-0 0-6-2

Lovely selection, my dear, sweet Jenny-joo. :) I agree La France is a beautiful locomotive. I would love to own one for myself someday but they seem to be fetching close to 300 quid atm.

I concur over the Rails of Sheffield terrier. I have three and all have sound. With my local railway being the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, they operate their trains using the Westinghouse air brake bolted to the side of the loco and this is both reproduced on the bodyside and also included in the sound funtions.

No. 1 for me is the HST in swallow livery.

Thinking about what I'd save from a hypothetical destructive event versus what I'd class as the best models in my collection, i'd go for totally different things. I'd rate my Bachmann class 90 (InterCity livery) as one of the best models of my collection. Amazing detail, runs super smooth and pulls anything. But it's not in the top five I'd make a bee-line for in terms of saving from a fire.

First I'd go for my Javelin re-powered Networker. Lots of work went into that.
Second would be my 80s era Hornby 'Duchess of Sutherland'. A smaller me glued the figures in the cab of that -- my first modified locomotive.
Third would be my CD tray motor re-powered Lima 73.
Fourth would be the half-finished kit N gauge Class 60 I built the chassis for as a teenager. Spent ages carefully working on the gear towers getting the best haulage, with a lot of success. Rest of kit as yet unfinished...
Fifth would be my Lima HST power cars, which are probably the first train I remember being bought. I remember picking them out in the shop and riding home on the train with them clearer than the birthday I actually got them for...

Bachmann austerity desert sand livery. For me just love the colour.

I note with approval the prevalence of pre-grouping (and especially LBSCR) joy in your top 10.

What about a certain big grey beauty? Of my fleet, my La France and Garratt are well within my top 10 as is my Dapol GWR Mogul, Bachmann Blue Pullmans (both Midland and Western) my SLW Class 24s and Heljan Class 25.

Love the selection the Terrier, 8K and H1 pre-grouping excellence! I do have a soft spot for intercity livery also. Keep up the good work.

Iam starting to get really fond of British steam .

I like steam, of course I do! I have two steam locos one of which was a great project and a lot of fun to "do up" (my railroad tornado which I've hashed into a war time black A3/A1 hybrid thing, TTS sound and stay alive)

BUT it has to be that for me, I am firmly a diesel head. So all my top ten would probably be filled with Diesels...
