Headed down to some of our new family's land for a little demo job. The old barns around the cabin have seen better day's and it was time for them to go. With some hard work from my new brother, new brother in law and great friends we were able to make plenty of progress. We saved what we could and were able to stay warm with the rest. Always great to be around family and friends. Hope everyone enjoys the video, work smarter not harder.

Old barns were built to last and not fall down unlike stuff built today.

The big barn was a burly or dark tobacco barn . The tobacco was split and put on those sticks that were laying on the wood in the middle of the 2 piles. The tobacco was then air dried. Some types of burley were also smoked with wood.

The metal off of those roofs is great for making condo stands for deer hunting, the wood too. I found it is easier to take a digging bar with the big round tamper on one end and use the tamper to "pop" the nails out of the roof from the underside; just get next to where you know the nail is and pop up once or twice and the nail normally comes right on out.
I think they left a bit too much structure on teh creek side of the last one, pulling the ends off might have made it easier but what is the fun in that?
