One interesting thing about laser powered-electric propulsion is that since the energy comes from outside the vehicle there is no limit to the specific impulse of the exhaust.What I mean is that if an hypotetical ship with a particle accelerator thruster, powered from the outside with a beam, expels particles at a speed > 70.71% c the specific impulse is greater than 299792458 N*s/kg, the speed of light ! There is
a problem though : the thrust to power ratio approaches 1/c (1 newton/300 MW) as the exhaust speed approaches lightspeed and considering the
inefficiencies of converting the energy of the beam to the energy of the exhaust, it would be better to use a laser sail 😅.

If you use light and a parabolic mirror wouldnt it concentrate the light to one point and generate a Kind of thrust?

I was reading a paper by Chinese physicists, who proposed to use radiactive decay as thrust, if the radioactive material were in the form of a thin foil, backed by some other non radioactive material, the radioisotope would emit very few particles sidewards, only forwards and backwards fro0m the large surface area.
Backwards would create thrust, but so too would the particles emitted from the forward side as they impinge on the backing material.
