I appreciate the time you took to make the video. I myself went with the K&N. U.S.A made which means I help put Americans to work. That and I exchanged emails with Nels Byersdorf over at 2 Wheel Motorworks and he stated that the DNA has no advantage as far as performance gains over the K&N filter. He said they perform exactly the same.

DNA didn't say anything about reflashing my ECU, but then again, I don't have a high performance bike. What British motorcycle YouTuber Stuart Fillingham recommended is idling your bike for 12 minutes; just idle it, don't blip the throttle or anything. You want to get the bike up to operating temperature. The whole purpose to idling the bike is to let the O2 sensors see the increased airflow, so the ECU can "learn". If it's colder, let the bike run for 15 minutes or so. Then, go for a short ride (2-3 miles) to make sure everything is all right. If so, then go for a long ride and ENJOY!

Jake, you should seriously consider doing some sort of basic workshop/mechanic series on your channel. You are really good at explaining in a pedagogical way how to do things, why you do a certain thing in a certain way and so on.

I mean, I suppose you're already doing sort of a workshop series, but I'm thinking more content like this, and not just the stuff you do to your own bikes but maybe talk about general tips and tricks too. You're fucking good at it, man.

K&N filters were the rage, everyone put them on cars, trucks, and motorcycles, until we finally were informed that they let a lot of dirt through. Especially once the oil dissipates, after about 5 months. Everyone says they clean and oil them often, but if it's not written down, it's not getting done. And it's an overnight job, to allow the washed filter to dry. Never have seen a shop mechanic do that right, they just blow them off and oil them up.

would you suggest purchasing the dna door with the dna filter or just removing the snorkel and using that for the dna filter cause the filter is 76 bucks an that fancy door is 100 bucks

Hey Jake. Look up "FZ-07 Hord airbox mod". Evidently there's a decent amount of power to be had, tossing the airbox altogether.
