I fell in love with Cuba again, by watching This great piece of film work by Jon Alpert. Great work. I wish I could have met the 3 Borregos brothers with the Borregos Farm. I first seen this today, 03-01-2020 .I will be 32 this year and hope some day to see the great land of Cuba. I also hope to someday meet Jon. And ask his daughter if she still has the excuse note from Castro. I hope that didn't go to the teacher. Well this is very inspiring work. If I had plenty of cash I would love to help the Cuban people. Like Jon did for his old Friend Borregos on the voice box. I'm on the part of the film where Jon is visiting the Borregos Farm 7 yrs after his last visit. I'm so worried to hear sad news. Please be Alive and well Borregos brothers. 😢

He didn’t mention what caused the Special Period, when Clinton tightened the embargo against Cuba after Russia ended their relationship with Cuba.

"I sort of don't care if you have a capitalist system I don't care if you have a socialist system, I care if you're working for the greater good of your citizens.

-Jon Alpert"

Man, that quote is very true, a system doesn't matter if you don't help the people in your country. But it's more sad that the cubans really tried to help the americans with their health and education problems, and most of the americans just popped them, hit them and kick them, being a real tragedy like Jon Alpert said. It's a real shame that the United States despite that it's the most strongest economy in the world, it's also the worst country in terms of discrimination, racism and lack of tolerance with other groups of people. No wonder why Fidel Castro respected and liked Jon Alpert so much, being probably the only american who Castro considered him as part of his family.

Jon Alpert, Thank you. Thank you for this film and the work that you put in to make this film. "I care if you're working for the better good of your citizens". I'd like to understand, from your point of view, what was happening to make their economic engine run out of gas? Once again, grateful and happy that I came across this film. You're awesome.

Thank you to document, that is a powerful and touching reporting on the lives of people you follow for decades. The relation you built with F. Castro was amazing and as he said you became like family. I spent almost 2 hours of my life in a very informative way, thanks to you. Your humanity shone through this documentary that I recommend all to see. 🙏🏽
