I think this was the moment Dany realized that making the North bow to her, or any of the royal Houses, would be far more difficult than she’d imagined. A lot of these people have history & ties to one another like Sansa and Theon. Whereas she has no ties to any royal House other than her name.

the small look between Theon & Sansa is all Dany needed to know that Northerns will always be true to their own. Theon might've knelt for Daenerys, but he came home solely for Sansa and the rest of the Starks. Nothing replaces bone deep loyalty.

Both Daenerys and Sansa are beautiful. The only difference is, Sansa is the queen of emotional reunions.

Theon had one of the best character arcs in GOT. Seeing him come back to fight for Winterfell brought his character full circle and he finally made peace with himself. He’s a Stark and a Greyjoy.

Daenerys won previous cities by coming in and being the savior of the downtrodden. In the North, they have been fighting for their own long before she came. She cannot be a savior, she can only be an ally, and she has not been there long enough to make a bond like all others have. She is the stranger trying to save a people who dont want to be saved, but helped

It must have been hard for Dany - almost all her closest allies in Westeros (Jon, Theon, Tyrion) had stronger ties to Sansa, who she could never win over

The moment Dany realized the North had more influence than she thought and they would never bend. Even when Ned “confessed” his crimes, no one in the North bought it for one sec and didn’t hesitant to go to war to avenge him.

Once Dany saw the look Theon gave Sansa, she realized that the people of Westeros have their own deep emotional connections that will always come before the fear she inspires through her dragons.

Sophie Turner is criminally underrated. As good as Sansa was well written, Sophie was able to shoulder it incredibly well.

The moment we knew Sansas heart wasn't complete stone. That it wasn't entirely iced over. The way she ran to his arms?! My favorite reunion.

Two things:

First that Sansa had the guts to say and stick to what the Northerners wanted, unlike Jon who just caved to Daenerys instead. Then Daenerys made the mistake of threatening Sansa in front of Jon. I don’t think Daenerys thought any of that through after she just discovered that she virtually had no power in Westeros and people will NOT just fall at her feet like they did in Essos.

Then I loved that while Theon does bow, I’m thinking he meant it truly for Sansa and not Daenerys. And that he asked SANSA for permission to stay and fight and how she hugs him instead answering verbally. Winterfell always belonged to the Starks even though Daenerys wants to claim it.
