DECAPOLICE Looks Absolutely Incredible!

DecaPolice is a new crime suspense RPG from Level-5 and it might end up being Level-5's best game based on TGS 2023 previews and hands-on gameplay!

I think it speaks volumes that the game looks like it's in such a complete stage and Level-5 still haven't decided on a release date. Western AAA-publishers seem to communicate release dates before they even started development in some cases (Anthem, for example)

Hopefully it's localized and released long before the Switch 2 is out. A niche game like this would absolutely get buried within the hype. That 2023 date is obviously targeting Japan but the question is how are they going about localization this time. They had Nintendo's backing in the past when their games were exclusive but they seemingly had some kind of fallout after Yokai Watch 4. And last we heard they quietly shuttered their offices in NA a few years ago.

I'm doing a Level 5 marathon on switch, just got Snack World on it (put already 10 hours into it, very fun so far!) And man I'm glad that Level-5 ARE BACK into the western market! I'm gonna buy all their upcoming games!
Decapolice looks amazing, Megaton Musashi is a must buy for a mech guy like me, Fantasy Life looks fine, Inazuma Eleven is also getting COPPED when it's out and I'm really interested in the upcoming Professor Layton!

Level5's CEO Hino mentioned during an interview session with Kodaka (Danganronpa & Rain Code) on the 1st day of TGS 2023, that he's worried about Decapolice's CERO rating (JP age rating for games).
He said that Decapolice looks cute on the outside, but the inside is SUPER dark. He said it could get rated CERO-Z (18+) & he's worried about some part of the game that may make it unable to be sold in other countries.
He also mentioned that they purposefully showed off the DecaP demo 'inline' with Level5's 'family-friendly' reputation, and planned to release the darker themes later on.
I'm SO excited for this game!! (I believe in 2024 release date for best quality!)

if you need a little more time to polish the game that’s perfectly fine but it looks practically done. I’m hoping it has English subtitles. I’m pretty sure it will. If there’s no English dubbed the game looks great and it’s the only other game. I was looking forward to this year. Besides tears of the kingdom.

This game has incredible potential, and I am really looking forward to it, but really sad there wasn't any Layton news to come out of this event. I am unbelievably excited for that game, although I still haven't played Last Spector or Unwound Future so I guess it does give me a little more time to get caught up on those first.

I'm a little worried about DecaPolice. It seems like a very important game for L5, but this seems like a terrible time for a smaller game like this to release. I want to see it succeed but I'm not sure it can right now.
